Senior Engineering Manager

📋 Description

• • Lead and mentor two Engineering Managers who oversee engineering teams delivering the UK Loans product, ensuring alignment with Lendable’s mission of building best-in-class financial technology.
• • Own end-to-end delivery efficiency for the UK Loans product, from application through repayment and customer support, optimizing processes to meet quarterly and yearly OKRs tied to customer satisfaction and speed of delivery.
• • Collaborate directly with the Managing Director, Head of Product, and Product Managers to balance feature development with critical technical investments, maintaining a sustainable pace that prioritizes both innovation and reliability.
• • Drive technical strategy across the Loans engineering function, ensuring consistency in architecture, tooling, and decision-making between teams, while empowering Engineering Managers, Tech Leads, and senior engineers to make informed trade-offs between short-term delivery and long-term platform health.
• • Build and cultivate high-performing, resilient engineering teams through strategic hiring, skills assessments, cross-training, and clear career progression pathways that foster retention, adaptability, and growth.
• • Establish and enforce quality assurance best practices across the SDLC, including monitoring uptime, reducing incident frequency, and implementing robust incident response protocols for production systems serving thousands of customers daily.
• • Embed AI-driven workflows throughout the software development lifecycle — from planning and design to testing, deployment, and incident resolution — and champion their adoption across teams to accelerate delivery and improve software quality.
• • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration with Credit, Growth, Operations, and Finance teams to align roadmaps, remove dependencies, and ensure seamless integration of engineering outputs with broader business objectives.
• • Maintain accountability for platform reliability and performance by overseeing on-call processes, incident management, and system monitoring, ensuring minimal disruption to customer experiences.
• • Promote a culture of continuous feedback and improvement, encouraging teams to regularly assess performance, refine processes, and iterate on delivery methods to meet evolving customer and business needs.
• • Act as a strategic partner in defining and evolving the engineering function’s operating model, ensuring scalability and coherence as the team grows and expands into new product areas and markets.
• • Leverage the company’s tech stack — including PHP 8, Symfony 6&7, Kotlin, AWS, MySQL, PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ, Docker, Kubernetes, React, React Native, TypeScript, and testing frameworks like Jest, Playwright, and PHPUnit — to guide technical direction and evaluate solution viability.
• • Communicate clearly and effectively with senior business stakeholders, translating technical constraints and opportunities into business outcomes, and ensuring alignment between engineering priorities and organizational goals.
• • Champion diversity, inclusion, and psychological safety within teams, fostering an environment where engineers feel empowered to innovate, raise concerns, and contribute to shared success.
