• • As a Senior Engineering Manager at Justplay GmbH, you will play a pivotal role in scaling our engineering organization and fortifying our technical foundation. Reporting directly to the Chief Product and Technology Officer (CPTO), you will be instrumental in driving technical execution, cultivating high-performing teams, and ensuring the robustness, scalability, and security of our systems. • • You will be tasked with navigating the complexities of our existing systems, requiring a strategic approach to prioritize initiatives that deliver the most impactful results. Initially, your leadership will focus on individual contributors, as we strategically define the optimal long-term organizational structure. This role demands close collaboration with our Product, Design, Data, and Commercial (User Acquisition & Ad Monetization) teams, ensuring seamless alignment between engineering endeavors and overarching company objectives. A core aspect of your responsibility will be fostering a healthy, transparent, and inclusive team culture.
• • A key differentiator for this role is the expectation to champion efficiency through the strategic adoption and integration of AI tooling. You will be responsible for encouraging and guiding your teams in leveraging AI across various functions, including analytics, coding, planning, and Quality Assurance (QA) execution. The goal is to empower our engineers and teams to operate with greater speed, intelligence, and effectiveness, ultimately accelerating our engineering output and enhancing the quality of our work.
• • Your leadership will extend to multiple critical engineering domains. You will be responsible for leading and growing teams focused on:
• • Rewarding Systems: Overseeing the core reward logic that drives user engagement and retention.
• • Fraud: Developing and refining scoring systems to identify and mitigate fraudulent activities, protecting our platform and users.
• • Customer Experience: Managing CRM integrations and customer support systems to ensure a seamless and positive user journey.
• • Cashout: Ensuring the reliability and efficiency of systems that enable users to claim their rewards seamlessly.
• • Platform DevEx: Driving improvements in developer experience, infrastructure, observability, and deployment tooling to empower our engineering teams.
• • Beyond team management, you will be a crucial mentor to senior engineers and emerging leaders. This involves providing clear career growth paths, constructive feedback, and opportunities for professional development. You will also own critical hiring decisions and contribute to shaping team structures in close partnership with our Talent Acquisition team. A fundamental aspect of your role is to actively promote a culture of ownership, inclusivity, and unwavering technical excellence within your teams and across the wider engineering department.
• • On the technical execution front, you will define the technical direction for your teams, contributing significantly to the broader engineering strategy. You will ensure the timely and high-quality delivery of complex, cross-domain projects, while continuously overseeing and optimizing system scalability, reliability, and performance. Proactively identifying and managing technical debt will be essential, striking a delicate balance between addressing legacy issues and driving forward new feature development. A keen understanding of service costs and a commitment to driving technical efficiency will be paramount. Furthermore, you will be at the forefront of introducing and expanding AI-powered tools designed to significantly enhance developer productivity and overall code quality.
• • In terms of process and strategy, you will partner closely with Product and Design to ensure roadmaps are tightly aligned with company goals. You will play a key role in improving our teams' planning, estimation, and execution processes. Defining and meticulously measuring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for team health, delivery speed, and quality will be a core responsibility. You will actively contribute to the evolution of our engineering organizational structure, processes, and rituals, working collaboratively with leadership to continuously enhance how engineering supports and drives company growth. Leveraging AI-based insights for strategic planning, data analysis, and quality assurance will be critical in optimizing team efficiency and effectiveness.
