• • As a Senior Engineering Manager for Biometric Authentication at Veriff, you will be at the forefront of building the trust layer of the internet. This pivotal role involves leading a high-performing, cross-functional engineering team dedicated to the end-to-end development of Veriff's Biometric Authentication (BioAuth) product. Your leadership will be instrumental in innovating rapidly, constructing reliable systems at scale, and ensuring authentication is secure, fast, and frictionless for a global user base.
• • You will own the complete product lifecycle of BioAuth, encompassing mobile SDKs for iOS, Android, and Web, alongside a high-scale backend infrastructure responsible for efficient face retrieval, matching, and large-scale storage. A key aspect of your role will be overseeing the integration layer that seamlessly brings Machine Learning (ML) models into production environments.
• • Your primary responsibility will be to lead, nurture, and develop a team comprised of Software Engineers, Mobile Developers, and ML Engineers. This team is tasked with building and maintaining production-grade biometric systems that are critical to Veriff's mission.
• • You will play a crucial role in defining the team's structure and its evolution as it scales, ensuring the establishment of robust engineering practices, clear lines of ownership, and the achievement of measurable delivery outcomes.
• • A core part of your mandate is to oversee the end-to-end delivery of all BioAuth product features. This includes the development and maintenance of iOS, Android, and Web SDKs, the creation of backend services for large-scale face retrieval and matching, and the critical integration of ML models into production systems.
• • You will be instrumental in building and scaling high-performance infrastructure specifically designed for biometric operations. This includes managing face encoding storage, developing fast retrieval systems, optimizing matching pipelines, and ensuring real-time liveness verification capabilities.
• • Collaboration is key. You will partner closely with Product leadership to shape the overall authentication strategy, influence technical architecture decisions, and ensure the product is ready for market launch.
• • You will drive strategic initiatives aimed at bringing core biometric capabilities in-house. This proactive approach will reduce reliance on third-party vendors, thereby enhancing control over performance, cost-effectiveness, and the velocity of innovation.
• • A significant part of your role involves close collaboration with Data Science teams to effectively productionize ML models. This includes the seamless integration of advanced face recognition, liveness detection, and anti-spoofing models into both mobile and backend systems.
• • You will champion operational excellence within the team, fostering the development of robust monitoring, observability, performance optimization strategies, and effective incident response practices across all managed systems.
• • Working in tandem with Legal and Compliance departments, you will ensure that the BioAuth architecture is privacy-first, adheres to GDPR regulations, and promotes the responsible handling of sensitive biometric data.
• • Ultimately, you will cultivate a team culture that is deeply rooted in technical excellence, collaborative problem-solving, a strong sense of ownership, and a relentless focus on customer impact.
