📋 Description

• Lead the data engineering team at Horizon3.ai to build and modernize the internal data platform that powers analytics and operational decision-making across the business, ensuring high-quality, trustworthy data is available to stakeholders.
• Drive execution on modernizing Horizon3’s data architecture, define data quality and timeliness standards, and establish data observability and pipeline robustness to support reliable data access.
• Act as a product owner for data engineering initiatives by capturing needs from product, BI, and other teams, managing the roadmap, and prioritizing work based on business impact and capacity.
• Grow and mentor a team of data engineers, infrastructure engineers, and data analysts, fostering a culture of collaboration, engineering excellence, ownership, and results through clear norms, code reviews, incident response, and documentation practices.
• Partner with peer engineering teams to drive alignment on shared standards such as data contracts, pipeline patterns, and quality guarantees across data ownership boundaries.
• Leverage expertise in cloud data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery), the modern data stack (dbt, Airflow/Dagster, Fivetran/Airbyte), and data quality frameworks to ensure performant and reliable data pipelines.
• Apply strong SQL and Python skills to review transforms, guide engineering decisions, investigate anomalies, and validate data quality issues.
• Contribute to a remote-first, inclusive culture at a fast-growing cybersecurity company committed to solving critical security challenges through innovation and collaboration.

🎯 Requirements

• Demonstrated expertise leading teams designing and operating cloud data warehouses in production (e.g., Redshift, Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery).
• Hands-on experience with the modern data stack: dbt for transformation, a pipeline orchestrator (Airflow, Dagster, or similar), and managed ingestion tooling (Fivetran, Airbyte, etc.).
• Experience implementing data quality frameworks and observability, including defining pipeline SLAs, detecting anomalies, and establishing tiered data sets with quality guarantees (e.g., medallion architecture).
• Proven ability to build or significantly grow a small data engineering team, including hiring, onboarding, and establishing engineering norms and culture.
• Proficient in SQL and Python, with ability to read, write, review data transforms, and guide engineering decisions.
• Demonstrated experience acting as a product owner for a platform or infrastructure team: maintaining roadmaps, triaging requests, managing expectations, and making prioritization tradeoffs.
