- • Lead the Data Pipeline team at Bloomreach, responsible for the backbone of data ingestion, real-time event tracking, and long-term storage for Bloomreach Engagement, directly impacting how hundreds of millions of customer interactions are processed daily across enterprise e-commerce and beyond-retail verticals.
- • Take ownership of an established, high-performing team of 6–7 engineers (including Staff Engineer/Tech Lead, Senior Engineers, SREs, Data Engineers, and QA) to ensure tracking pipeline reliability, scalability, and performance under enterprise-scale traffic, processing billions of user events per day with peaks of 80–100K tracked actions per second during high-load periods like Black Friday.
- • Drive architectural improvements to the hot-path tracking pipeline, including reducing MongoDB pressure, improving throughput, addressing data consistency challenges (IMF/Mongo desyncs), and leading strategic initiatives such as Unified Tracking API and JWT-based Tracking API Security for enterprise clients.
- • Balance feature delivery, technical debt reduction, and operational work (L3 support, on-call rotation, incident management) while fostering a culture of continuous learning, ownership, and improvement through knowledge-sharing, feedback, and career development using the Bloomreach career architecture framework.
- • Collaborate across Product and Engineering departments (Web Experience, App Platform, Campaigns, Mobile SDK, Integrations, FUSE, etc.) to manage dependencies, contribute to product roadmaps, and represent the team in cross-functional discussions, ensuring seamless integration for initiatives like Unified Tracking and Tracking API Security.
- • Work with a modern tech stack including Go, Python, Apache Kafka, MongoDB, BigQuery, BigTable, Redis, GCS, Apache Spark, DataProc, IceBerg, GCP, Kubernetes, Terraform, HELM, Grafana, Prometheus, Victoria Metrics, PagerDuty, Sentry, OpenTelemetry, GitLab (CI/CD), Jira, Confluence, Productboard, and Robot Framework.
- • Grow as a technical leader by setting personal development goals for team members, becoming a trusted domain expert capable of informing trade-off decisions, and driving measurable progress on scalability, MongoDB pressure reduction, and data consistency challenges over 180 days.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proven experience as an Engineering Manager or similar leadership role in a backend, data engineering, or distributed systems environment.
- • Strong understanding of distributed systems architecture, including event-driven systems, message queues, databases, and high-throughput data pipelines.
- • Experience leading teams in continuous delivery and testing, ensuring high-quality output through code reviews, automated testing (including Robot Framework E2E), observability, and incident readiness.
- • Demonstrated ability to contribute to product roadmaps and strategic direction, balancing business priorities with technical needs in project planning and prioritization processes.
- • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to tailor communication to diverse audiences (engineers, PMs, leadership) and build consensus.
- • Strong leadership skills, including setting personal development goals, providing regular feedback, and guiding career progression for team members.
