Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Lead engineering for one or more business domains within Flow, Hadrian’s mission-critical factory operation system, ensuring end-to-end ownership of product outcomes, engineering execution, and operational health.
- • Manage and grow a high-performing engineering team focused on Factory Core — the subsystem responsible for Manufacturing Execution, Shop Floor experience, Inventory, and Warehouse Management — which every part Hadrian produces, moves, or ships depends on.
- • Hire, retain, and develop top-tier engineers by setting clear performance standards, providing career development guidance, and addressing performance issues directly and fairly.
- • Remain hands-on as a player-coach: actively participate in architecture and design reviews, contribute production code to the roadmap, and respond to critical production incidents alongside the team.
- • Partner closely with Product, Design, and Operations teams to translate business priorities into sequenced, shipped work that aligns with factory throughput goals and operational reliability.
- • Continuously improve the team’s developer lifecycle across planning, design, code review, testing, deployment, on-call, and incident response to increase velocity and system reliability.
- • Drive technical strategy and prioritization for business-critical domains with accountability for both delivery and long-term system health.
- • Apply systems thinking to understand interactions between services, data flows, and team boundaries, proactively preventing bottlenecks and scaling issues across distributed environments.
- • Maintain technical credibility by reading, reviewing, and writing production code; leading architecture discussions; and earning the trust of senior engineers through demonstrated engineering expertise.
- • Communicate effectively across engineering, product, operations, and leadership to align priorities, drive decisions, and ensure transparency in progress and challenges.
- • Operate in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment with short iteration cycles, where system failures directly impact manufacturing output and national defense supply chains.
- • Support the scaling of Hadrian’s manufacturing footprint by enabling Flow to operate reliably across multiple factories, including the new 290,000-square-foot Factory 3 in Mesa, Arizona, and future international facilities.
- • Contribute to the evolution of Hadrian’s Factory-as-a-Service model by ensuring the software platform delivers complete, reliable production systems — not just individual components.
- • Uphold the reliability and security standards required for aerospace and defense manufacturing, while not requiring prior industry experience to succeed in the role.
🎯 Requirements
- • 2-5+ years of engineering management experience leading product engineering teams in production, with a strong full-stack engineering background prior to management.
- • Proven track record of owning business-critical product domains, including technical strategy, prioritization, delivery, and operational responsibility.
- • Experience hiring, growing, and retaining strong engineering teams and fostering healthy team dynamics.
- • Demonstrated ability to lead or contribute to distributed systems in production across multiple sites, environments, or regions.
- • Technical credibility: ability to read, review, and write production code, lead architecture discussions, and earn trust of senior engineers.
- • Strong communication skills to align engineers, product partners, operators, and leadership, drive decisions, and maintain transparency.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans for employees
- • 401k
- • Relocation support may be provided for certain situations, based on business need
- • Flexible vacation policy
- • Equity
