- • As a Senior Engineering Manager for ML Data at Twelve Labs Inc., you will lead a high-impact team responsible for building the foundational data infrastructure that powers the company’s world-leading video understanding AI models, directly enabling breakthroughs in video search, analysis, summarization, and insight generation used by global sports leagues, broadcast studios, and public safety systems.
- • You will shape the technical and cultural foundation of the ML Data team by defining its mission, driving hiring and mentorship, establishing engineering excellence, and ensuring alignment with Twelve Labs’ vision of creating honest, humble, and continuously learning teams that tackle complex multimodal AI challenges.
- • Day-to-day, you will lead the design and operation of petabyte-scale multimodal data pipelines for video, image, and audio collection, cleansing, labeling, and preprocessing; build automated data generation systems for VLM/LLM training; architect scalable and reliable data infrastructure; and collaborate closely with product, research, and infrastructure teams to execute a data strategy that accelerates model innovation.
- • You will mentor and grow engineers through hands-on technical guidance, code reviews, and structured onboarding, fostering a culture where feedback is embraced, failure is a learning opportunity, and technical depth is continuously elevated across the team.
- • The ML Data team at Twelve Labs operates at the intersection of cutting-edge AI and large-scale data engineering, working in a hybrid environment between Seoul and San Francisco to deliver data that enables unique capabilities like Amazon Bedrock deployment — the only Korean-developed AI model offered via this service — backed by over $110M in funding from top-tier investors including NVIDIA, NEA, and Index Ventures.
- • In this role, you will have the opportunity to scale systems to petabyte levels, lead the end-to-end creation of AI-ready datasets from raw multimodal inputs, influence the product roadmap through data-driven insights, and grow as a technical leader in a globally recognized Deep Tech startup pushing the boundaries of video AI.
🎯 Requirements
- • 6+ years of experience leading data or engineering teams of 6+ members
- • 8+ years of software engineering experience with strong technical leadership
- • Proven experience hiring, onboarding, and mentoring data or ML engineers to drive team growth
- • Hands-on experience designing and operating large-scale data systems
