- • Lead and grow Asana’s Security Engineering organization to protect employees, users, and customers by embedding security into product development and infrastructure.
- • Own the security engineering roadmap, drive high-impact initiatives, and ensure resilient, secure-by-design systems across a complex, high-growth SaaS environment.
- • Mentor and manage a multi-disciplinary engineering team, fostering technical excellence, psychological safety, and accountability while championing security as an enabler of innovation.
- • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, IT, Legal, and Compliance to embed security requirements into designs and workflows, and oversee complex design reviews for infrastructure and features.
- • Drive recruiting efforts to attract top-tier talent, establish clear career paths, and build a high-performance culture where security rigor accelerates rather than hinders velocity.
- • Leverage deep expertise in application security, cloud-native architecture (AWS), identity frameworks, and security controls to provide technical direction in design reviews and architecture decisions.
- • Balance security with business needs through risk-informed decision-making and clear communication of security mandates to diverse stakeholders.
- • Demonstrate curiosity about AI and emerging technologies to enhance productivity, collaboration, and security posture through automation and internal tooling.
🎯 Requirements
- • 8+ years of experience in security or software engineering, including 3+ years of direct experience managing high-performing engineering teams.
- • Strong software engineering background with ability to participate in deep-dive design reviews and provide technical direction on architecture and code.
- • Deep understanding of modern security domains: application security (OWASP), cloud-native architecture, and identity frameworks (OAuth, OIDC, SAML).
- • Hands-on experience with security controls and architecture in AWS or similar cloud environments at scale.
- • Proven track record of shipping internal tools or services that improve security posture through automation.
- • Demonstrated ability to balance security requirements with business needs, make risk-informed decisions, and communicate the 'why' behind security mandates to stakeholders.
