📋 Description

• • Own the CTO’s calendar as if it were your own product: ruthlessly prioritize, block deep-work time, and orchestrate complex, multi-time-zone meetings with internal scientists, external investors, regulatory bodies, and fusion-research partners. You will anticipate conflicts before they surface and re-architect the day so the CTO can focus on breakthrough physics and engineering decisions.
• • Act as the CTO’s strategic radar and early-warning system: scan Slack, email, and hallway chatter for emerging issues, synthesize context, and surface only what truly needs attention. You will draft crisp briefs, pre-reads, and decision memos so every meeting starts with clarity and ends with action.
• • Run point on domestic and international travel—securing visas, charter flights, lab tours, and last-minute hotel pivots when a reactor test overruns. You will build itineraries that squeeze every productive minute out of a trip while protecting recovery time for high-stakes technical reviews.
• • Coordinate small to mid-size technical programs: track fusion-target fabrication milestones, laser-system upgrades, and cross-team OKRs in Airtable or Asana. You will chase owners, unblock dependencies, and publish weekly pulse reports that keep 150+ engineers aligned without adding process bloat.
• • Serve as the communications backbone for the broader technical leadership bench—onboarding new VPs, standardizing meeting cadences, and curating a living knowledge base of decisions, risks, and technical trade-offs. Over time you will scale your playbook so Directors can replicate your rigor without adding headcount.
• • Draft and refine high-stakes internal and external communications: investor-update snippets, board-presentation talking points, and Slack announcements that translate complex plasma physics into crisp business language. Your words will carry the CTO’s voice and reputation.
• • Build trusted relationships across plasma physicists, laser engineers, program managers, and operations teams. You will mediate scheduling conflicts, negotiate resource swaps, and diplomatically decline meetings while preserving goodwill.
• • Maintain ironclad confidentiality—handling patent filings, M&A discussions, and personnel matters with the discretion of a chief of staff. You will be the vault that protects the company’s most sensitive strategic data.
• • Continuously improve the machinery of the office: automate calendaring rules, create self-serve travel templates, and introduce lightweight dashboards that surface real-time project health. Your obsession with friction-free operations will compound the CTO’s leverage every quarter.
• • Embody the mission: learn enough about inertial confinement fusion to ask smart questions, attend the occasional plasma-physics seminar, and bring genuine curiosity about unlimited clean energy. Your passion will signal to the entire technical org that every role—even the EA—drives us closer to fusion-powered grids.
