This position is crucial for maintaining financial fairness and operational efficiency within the company, directly impacting our ability to provide the best insurance experience possible to our clients.
  • • Your primary responsibility will involve conducting comprehensive premium audits in the field for organizational accounts. This entails meticulously examining policyholder financial records, particularly payroll and operational data, to determine the actual exposures and accurately calculate the premium to be charged for various policy coverages.
  • • You will be tasked with managing audits for larger and more complex accounts, demonstrating a deep understanding of insurance principles and financial record-keeping. This includes resolving applicable disputes that may arise during the audit process, requiring strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • • A key aspect of this role is delivering exceptional customer service throughout the entire audit experience. This means engaging professionally and effectively with insureds, agents, and internal company personnel, ensuring clear communication of audit findings and the rationale behind any premium adjustments.
  • • You will serve as a technical resource, providing essential technical assistance and resolving complex technical issues for both internal and external customers. This includes collaborating with reviewers, underwriters, and agents to ensure a shared understanding of audit outcomes and policy requirements.
  • • Proactive communication is vital. You will connect with insureds, agents, and company stakeholders to discuss audit findings, explain changes in premium exposures, and ensure a smooth and transparent process.
  • • This role requires consulting with industry bodies such as NCCI (National Council on Compensation Insurance) and WCIRB (Workers' Compensation Insurance Rating Bureau) and other independent bureaus to address classification and technical issues, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
  • • You will be expected to present the status of your audit inventory to management on a regular basis, providing updates on progress, challenges, and resolutions.
  • • Continuous learning is essential. You must stay current on information relevant to premium auditing through both internal training resources and external industry publications and forums.
  • • A significant part of your work will involve analyzing insured's business operations to determine the most appropriate classifications and exposures, ensuring that policies accurately reflect the risks involved.
  • • You will be responsible for recording and summarizing proper payroll and classification data, which forms the basis for premium determination.
  • • While this role does not have direct reports, you will have the opportunity to mentor and train less experienced field auditors, sharing your expertise and contributing to the development of the team.
  • • The position requires a strong understanding of Commercial Lines policies, including Workers’ Compensation, General Liability, and other relevant commercial coverages. Experience working with WCRIB, NCCI, and similar bureaus is highly desirable.
  • • You must possess a working knowledge of various payroll and accounting systems and understand the differences in Workers’ Compensation jurisdictions across different states.
  • • The ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents is critical for success in this role.
  • • You will need to respond effectively to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community, maintaining a professional and helpful demeanor.
  • • The capacity to effectively present information to top management and public groups is also a key requirement.
  • • Strong mathematical skills are necessary, including the ability to perform calculations with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals accurately.
  • • You must be able to define problems, collect relevant data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions to support audit findings.
  • • Working independently with excellent time management skills is paramount, as you will manage your own schedule and audit workload.
  • • The role involves travel, potentially requiring overnight stays up to 25% of the time, to conduct audits at insured locations. You will be working with computers and screens for extended periods and may need to lift and carry up to 25-40 pounds.
  • • The work environment is a combination of remote work and on-site visits to client offices, utilizing standard office equipment. You must be comfortable driving and working independently in various customer worksite environments.
