Full Job Description
📋 Description
- • Own the end-to-end financial planning cycle for a celebrated, player-centric studio behind award-winning titles such as Journey and Sky: Children of the Light. You will architect and continuously refine the company-wide budget, forecast, and long-range model that underpins every creative, technical, and publishing decision we make.
- • Serve as the primary finance partner to department heads across Product, Engineering, Publishing, and G&A Operations. You will translate creative roadmaps into quantifiable financial plans, surface risks and opportunities early, and ensure every dollar is invested in service of unforgettable player experiences.
- • Build and distribute monthly management-reporting packages that go far beyond P&L, cash flow, and balance-sheet snapshots. Your dashboards will weave together game KPIs, user-acquisition metrics, platform revenue splits, and live-ops data so leaders can see the financial impact of design choices in real time.
- • Drive scenario planning and sensitivity analysis for high-stakes initiatives—new IP incubation, platform expansion, international publishing partnerships, and seasonal live-ops events—delivering board-ready presentations that illuminate upside potential and downside exposure.
- • Leverage our modern data stack (NetSuite ERP, Abacum FP&A platform, Snowflake warehouse, and Looker BI) to automate data ingestion, shorten forecast cycles, and raise predictive accuracy. You will champion process improvements that free the team to focus on insight rather than assembly.
- • Lead quarterly re-forecasting sprints that balance artistic ambition with fiscal discipline. You will coordinate inputs from 10+ department owners, enforce deadlines, and synthesize disparate assumptions into a single source of truth that scales with our growing slate of games and global audience.
- • Design and maintain a rolling 3-year financial model that aligns headcount, marketing spend, platform rev-share, and capital investments with strategic milestones. Your model will be the reference for investor updates, bank covenants, and equity-valuation discussions.
- • Provide ad-hoc decision support for publishing negotiations, platform feature prioritization, and user-acquisition budget allocation. Whether we are weighing a timed-exclusive launch or evaluating a new subscription bundle, you will quantify ROI, payback, and lifetime-value implications.
- • Mentor junior analysts and up-level financial literacy across the studio. Through brown-bag sessions and one-on-one coaching, you will cultivate a culture where every producer and engineer can read a forecast and connect their daily work to company-level outcomes.
- • Uphold the values that define Thatgamecompany: empathy for players, craftsmanship in every detail, and a belief that games can illuminate what it means to be human. Your financial stewardship ensures we can keep creating transformative experiences for years to come.
