📋 Description

• As a Senior Full Stack Engineer at Trunk Tools Inc., you will play a pivotal role in revolutionizing the construction industry by building and scaling AI-powered products that transform analog field operations into intelligent, automated workflows. Your work will directly contribute to the company’s mission of modernizing a $13+ trillion industry through cutting-edge technology, impacting over 140,000 field professionals and enabling smarter, safer, and more efficient construction projects.
• You will develop and enhance core product features for TrunkText (Construction Document Guide) and TrunkPerform (Incentive Management Tool), architecting scalable solutions that improve usability, performance, and user satisfaction across thousands of daily users.
• You will design and implement robust third-party integrations, focusing on secure authentication, efficient data synchronization, and extensible connector frameworks that enable seamless interoperability with industry-standard construction platforms and tools.
• You will iterate on backend architecture to ensure horizontal scalability, fault tolerance, and low-latency performance under growing user loads, leveraging modern cloud-native patterns to support the company’s hypergrowth trajectory.
• You will champion code quality, testing practices, and observability to guarantee system reliability, minimizing bugs and downtime while delivering a polished, user-centric experience that earns trust from field professionals.
• You will actively participate in product strategy sessions, collaborating with product, design, and engineering leaders to translate user needs into technical roadmaps and innovative feature concepts that align with Trunk Tools’ vision.
• You will work cross-functionally with product managers, UX/UI designers, and data scientists to ensure cohesive feature delivery, from concept through deployment, fostering a culture of shared ownership and rapid iteration.
• You will join a mission-driven team of builders and technologists from Stanford and MIT, where your expertise will be valued in a collaborative, low-ego environment that prioritizes impact, learning, and psychological safety.

🎯 Requirements

• 7-10 years of professional full-stack development experience with a proven track record of shipping production-grade software to end users
• Expert proficiency in TypeScript, including advanced typing, generics, and module architecture
• Hands-on experience building and maintaining backend systems using Node.js and Express, including RESTful API design and middleware implementation
• Deep expertise in frontend development with React, including hooks, context, state management (e.g., Redux or Zustand), and performance optimization
• Demonstrated experience in system architecture design, including microservices, event-driven patterns, and API gateway concepts
• Strong background in data schema modeling for both relational (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and non-relational (e.g., MongoDB, DynamoDB) databases
• Proven ability to work independently, manage complex tasks efficiently, and communicate technical ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
