📋 Description

• Senior Full Stack Engineer role focused on building a process automation platform that helps large organizations optimize and automate complex workflows using Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, and modern frontend technologies like Hotwire.
• Day-to-day responsibilities include writing elegant, efficient, and testable Ruby code, covering code with tests, performing manual testing, reviewing colleagues’ work, mentoring team members, improving team processes, and contributing to product development.
• The Engineering team is based in Europe and operates remotely with a requirement to be in the CET timezone ± 1 hour; Toptal is a global, fully remote workforce with over $200M in annual revenue, known for innovation, fast-paced execution, and a culture of continuous improvement.
• In this role, you will gain deep expertise in Toptal’s technical stack, lead technical initiatives, drive codebase and process improvements, mentor new team members, and develop mastery in scalable systems, big data, and LLM-integrated workflows using tools like Claude Code.

🎯 Requirements

• Strong (5+ years) experience with Ruby and Ruby on Rails
• Frontend experience with JavaScript and Hotwire
• Strong knowledge of OOP, automated software testing, and development methodologies
• Ability to consider multiple quality dimensions including user impact, failure tolerance, code maintenance, implementation time, security, and performance
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly growing environment while handling diverse challenges and deadlines
