📋 Description

• As a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer at Binti, you will play a pivotal role in building software that transforms social services for government agencies, directly contributing to the mission of keeping families together and improving outcomes for vulnerable children and families across the United States.
• You will lead high-impact technical initiatives that combine deep engineering expertise with product thinking, leveraging AI and modern tools to create scalable, secure, and user-centered solutions in child welfare and expanding social service domains.
• Your day-to-day responsibilities will include leading architecture discussions to ensure systems are reliable, performant, and maintainable; writing full-stack code with a 60% backend and 40% frontend focus using Ruby on Rails and React; mentoring engineers on best practices; optimizing component performance for latency and throughput; monitoring system health at scale; guiding incident response and vulnerability remediation; collaborating with product management to scope and execute features aligned with Binti’s values; advocating for code longevity through flexible, scalable patterns; supporting a welcoming and inclusive team culture; championing accessibility and intuitive design for diverse users; and driving security and privacy improvements, especially around HIPAA compliance for sensitive data.
• You will work on sample projects such as spearheading new product areas like child intake and community crisis response; evolving configurable platform features (e.g., scheduling, application requirements) into reusable, performant layers; architecting systems for storing non-biological human relationships; and enabling secure, workflow-aware application transfers between agencies with varying permissions and configurations.

• In this role, you will deepen your expertise in full-stack development, enterprise-scale configurable systems, and AI-augmented engineering practices; grow as a technical leader and mentor; gain experience in regulated environments like government and healthcare; shape the long-term health and scalability of a mission-critical codebase; and make measurable social impact by improving how public services serve families in need.

🎯 Requirements

• Proven experience leading and coordinating large-scale infrastructural and architectural projects and rollouts
• Strong full-stack engineering background with hands-on expertise in Ruby on Rails and React (or equivalent modern web stack)
• Demonstrated ability to architect, build, and maintain configurable systems that support complex workflows, preferably in enterprise or government-facing software
• Comfort with startup mindset: initiative-taking, MVP-driven development, and effective project management
• Passion for leveraging modern tools and AI to enhance engineering efficiency and product quality
• Excellent collaboration skills with cross-functional teams including product, technical account management, and policy
• Track record of end-to-end product delivery — from ideation and scoping to implementation and maintenance
• Strong communication skills: verbal, written, and interpersonal, with ability to mentor and influence across teams
