Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • As a Senior Full Stack Web Engineer at PickNik Robotics, you will play a pivotal role in developing the web-based interface for MoveIt Pro, a cutting-edge software platform that enables robots to operate intelligently in real-world environments through AI-powered motion planning. Your work will directly contribute to deploying advanced robotic solutions for industry leaders and research institutions, including NASA, BMW, and Lockheed Martin, helping bridge the gap between sophisticated AI and physical robotics.
- • You will be responsible for designing and implementing responsive, high-performance user interfaces using TypeScript and React (v19+), leveraging modern React features such as hooks, context, and advanced component patterns to create intuitive tools for roboticists to configure, simulate, and monitor robot behavior in real time.
- • Your day-to-day will involve close collaboration with backend engineers using Python/FastAPI and robotics specialists working with ROS 2, ensuring seamless integration between web frontends and robotic systems via WebSocket connections for live data streaming, telemetry, and command execution.
- • You will contribute to architectural decisions, guide implementation through AI-assisted coding tools, and help maintain code quality by reviewing AI-generated outputs, while also writing and maintaining tests using Vitest and React Testing Library to ensure reliability across evolving features.
- • You’ll work within a modern development stack that includes Vite for fast builds, TanStack Query for efficient data fetching and state management, and potentially TanStack Router for client-side navigation, all while adhering to Agile practices in a small, expert-driven team environment.
- • Beyond individual contributions, this role offers a clear trajectory toward technical leadership—you will have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers, influence team technical direction, and grow into engineering management as PickNik scales its impact in robotics and AI.
- • You’ll join a mission-driven team passionate about advancing robotics software, working on problems that extend from factory floors to space exploration, where your engineering expertise helps turn complex robotic challenges into usable, scalable software solutions.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience demonstrating deep technical proficiency.
- • Minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience in full-stack web development, with proven expertise in TypeScript and building scalable React applications using modern features like hooks, context, and custom component patterns.
- • Strong experience with real-time web technologies, including implementing and maintaining WebSocket connections for live data streaming, and integrating with RESTful APIs—preferably those built with Python/FastAPI.
- • Proficiency in modern frontend tooling such as Vite for development and build workflows, and testing frameworks like Vitest and React Testing Library to ensure code quality and test coverage.
- • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with distributed teams, communicate technical ideas clearly, and take ownership of features from design through deployment.
- • Clear potential and interest in growing into a technical leadership role, including mentoring teammates, driving architectural decisions, and eventually managing engineers as the team expands.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Competitive compensation starting at a minimum salary of $120,000 per year, reflecting the seniority and impact of the role within a high-growth robotics technology company.
- • Opportunity to work on meaningful, real-world applications of robotics and AI, with software deployed in industries ranging from advanced manufacturing to space exploration, giving your work tangible global impact.
- • Collaborative, expert-led team culture in Boulder, CO, where you’ll work alongside skilled robotics and software engineers passionate about pushing the boundaries of what robots can do.
- • Professional growth path toward technical leadership and engineering management, supported by mentorship, ownership of technical direction, and increasing responsibility as the company scales.
- • Access to modern development tools and practices, including AI-assisted coding, Agile methodologies, cloud-native deployment (AWS/GPU-accelerated apps), and cutting-edge robotics middleware like ROS 2 and rosbridge.
- • Flexibility to engage with clients and industry events through occasional travel (approximately every other month, less than 20% of time), fostering direct connection with end users and real-world use cases.
