- • Architect and deliver the next generation of Machinify’s unified platform, a cloud-native, AI-powered suite that processes petabytes of healthcare claims and clinical data to drive down costs for 160 million covered lives across 60+ leading health plans.
- • Own the full development lifecycle—from whiteboard architecture to production deployment—of high-throughput, low-latency web applications that surface machine-learning insights in real time to payer operations teams.
- • Design extensible backend services in Java (and optionally Scala or Rust) that integrate with data pipelines, ML model endpoints, and third-party APIs while enforcing strict HIPAA-grade security and audit controls.
- • Craft modern, responsive front-end experiences in TypeScript/JavaScript that turn complex ML outputs into intuitive dashboards, workflow tools, and decision-support screens used daily by clinicians, actuaries, and claims analysts.
- • Balance rapid feature delivery with long-term scalability: refactor legacy modules, introduce automated testing suites (unit, integration, end-to-end), and champion continuous integration / continuous deployment best practices.
- • Serve as technical anchor for a cross-functional squad of data engineers, product managers, and ML scientists; lead design reviews, code reviews, and architecture decision records (ADRs) to maintain code quality and knowledge sharing.
- • Optimize performance end-to-end—query tuning, caching layers, asynchronous job orchestration, and browser-level rendering—to ensure sub-second response times on datasets exceeding 50 TB.
- • Translate ambiguous product requirements into clear engineering tasks, decompose epics into sprint-sized stories, and provide accurate effort estimation that enables predictable release planning.
- • Mentor mid-level and junior engineers through pair programming, brown-bag sessions, and career development plans, raising the overall technical bar of the organization.
- • Collaborate with security and compliance teams to embed privacy-by-design patterns, encryption at rest/in transit, and fine-grained access controls directly into application architecture.
- • Continuously evaluate emerging technologies (e.g., Rust microservices, GraphQL federation, WebAssembly) and run proof-of-concept spikes that could unlock new product capabilities or operational efficiencies.
- • Monitor production health via distributed tracing, centralized logging, and alerting dashboards; participate in an on-call rotation that maintains 99.9% uptime SLAs for mission-critical payer workflows.
- • Contribute to open-source initiatives and internal SDKs that accelerate development across multiple product lines, reinforcing Machinify’s reputation as a technology innovator in healthcare.
🎯 Requirements
- • 10+ years of full-stack software engineering with demonstrable depth in backend development (Java strongly preferred; Scala or Rust a plus) and solid proficiency in modern TypeScript/JavaScript front-end stacks.
- • Proven record of architecting and shipping large-scale, data-intensive web applications (millions of users or petabyte-scale data) in cloud-native environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- • Expertise in distributed system design, RESTful and GraphQL APIs, relational and NoSQL databases, event-driven architectures, and containerized microservices (Docker/Kubernetes).
- • Strong ownership mindset evidenced by prior tech-lead or staff-level responsibilities: driving technical vision, mentoring teams, and delivering complex projects end-to-end.
- • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
