- • Take ownership of the local general ledger (GL) function, ensuring the utmost accuracy and timeliness of all recorded financial data. This pivotal role involves leading a US transactional accounting team, reporting directly to the Accounting Manager, and contributing significantly to the financial health and integrity of the organization.
- • Spearhead the monthly financial accounting close process, a critical period demanding meticulous attention to detail. Your responsibilities will include the accurate recording of lease assets and liabilities, precise calculation and booking of sales tax/GST, and the timely accrual of expenses. A key component of this is the preparation and thorough review of balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring all accounts are accurately represented and variances are thoroughly investigated and resolved.
- • Maintain overall responsibility for the accuracy and timeliness of financial accounting reporting for your assigned ledger areas. This involves not just recording transactions but also understanding their impact on the broader financial statements and ensuring compliance with internal and external reporting requirements.
- • Conduct in-depth research into relevant accounting literature to guarantee that all assigned ledger areas strictly adhere to US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP). This requires a proactive approach to staying abreast of evolving accounting standards and their implications for the company.
- • Manage the accurate and timely filing of monthly sales tax and GST returns through the Avalara platform. This task is crucial for regulatory compliance and requires diligence in data compilation and submission.
- • Actively participate in the continuous development and establishment of robust accounting policies and procedures. You will contribute to the formulation of operational strategies, including the critical review and implementation of process improvements and system enhancements to streamline financial operations.
- • Maintain a constant focus on identifying opportunities for improving system efficiencies and refining business practices. This involves a proactive mindset towards automation, process optimization, and the adoption of best practices to enhance productivity and reduce errors.
- • Proactively identify internal control deficiencies within the GL function. You will be responsible for developing, documenting, and implementing effective recommendations for resolution, strengthening the company's internal control environment and mitigating risks.
- • Collaborate effectively with external auditors, providing necessary documentation and explanations to ensure successful audit outcomes and demonstrate compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
- • Engage in the active review and provide expert advice on financial and accounting processes across the organization. Your insights will be invaluable in shaping and improving financial operations, ensuring they are efficient, compliant, and aligned with business objectives.
- • Lead and mentor the US transactional accounting team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment. This includes guiding team members, providing training, and ensuring the team meets its objectives within the GL function.
- • Contribute to the preparation of financial statements and management reports, providing clear and concise analysis of financial performance and key trends.
