• • We are seeking a talented Senior Infrastructure Engineer to become an integral part of our expanding Core Platform team. This role is pivotal in the design, development, and ongoing management of the robust cloud systems that serve as the backbone for our cutting-edge data and intelligence products. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, proactive engineer with demonstrable experience in Amazon Web Services (AWS), sophisticated observability practices, and advanced infrastructure automation techniques. You will be instrumental in building sophisticated tools and refining processes that significantly improve how we monitor, comprehend, and optimize the efficiency of our cloud infrastructure, spanning both AWS and Databricks environments.

• • In close collaboration with talented engineers across our Core Platform and Data teams, you will spearhead initiatives to drive enhanced visibility into cloud usage patterns, elevate performance metrics at scale, and guide more strategic decision-making through the implementation of advanced tooling, comprehensive automation, and effective cross-functional collaboration. • • Your responsibilities will encompass the end-to-end design and construction of systems dedicated to monitoring, managing, and optimizing cloud infrastructure costs across both AWS and Databricks. You will be tasked with implementing advanced cost observability tools, establishing critical alerts, and developing insightful dashboards that deliver actionable intelligence directly to our engineering teams. A key aspect of this role involves actively collaborating with various engineering teams to influence infrastructure and workload design, ensuring cost efficiency is a primary consideration. You will conduct in-depth analyses of trends in cloud service usage, such as EC2, S3, and Databricks compute, identifying performance bottlenecks or areas of inefficiency and proactively proposing innovative solutions.
• • Furthermore, you will develop and deploy automation scripts and self-service tools designed to empower developers, enabling them to default to cost-effective architectural patterns. A significant part of your role will involve evaluating and implementing strategic AWS cost optimization techniques, including but not limited to Savings Plans, Spot Instances, and intelligent right-sizing of resources, to enhance overall efficiency and ensure sustainable scalability. You will work closely with Finance and Engineering stakeholders to refine cost visibility into cloud spend, improve the accuracy of financial forecasting, and strengthen cost allocation methodologies through the implementation of more robust tagging practices. You will also contribute meaningfully to architecture design discussions, adeptly surfacing and articulating the critical trade-offs between cost, performance, and scalability.

A solid understanding of Databricks compute environments, including aspects like cluster management, pricing tiers, Photon, streaming job configurations, and auto-scaling settings, is highly desirable. Experience working with or implementing cost observability tools such as CloudZero, CloudHealth, AWS Cost Explorer, or similar FinOps dashboards is crucial. You will possess a strong, intuitive understanding of the intricate relationship between infrastructure resource usage and overall cloud expenditure. Confidence and proficiency in working with infrastructure-as-code workflows, with a preference for Terraform, are expected. Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes will be advantageous. Proven experience in scripting or automating repetitive tasks to improve efficiency is a must. Excellent communication and documentation skills are essential for collaborating effectively and sharing knowledge across the organization.
