- • Take full ownership of Rally’s cloud infrastructure, CI/CD platform, and developer experience as the founding Infrastructure Engineer, building the foundation for an AI-native research platform.
- • Evaluate, select, and own Rally’s CI/CD platform while defining and tracking DORA metrics to improve delivery velocity and reliability.
- • Build and maintain on-demand ephemeral preview environments for a large, complex service footprint that cannot be run locally, improving inner-loop developer workflows including build times, local tooling, and service scaffolding.
- • Own and mature Rally’s full AWS stack including ECS/Fargate, Aurora PostgreSQL, MSK, and DynamoDB, with a focus on infrastructure-as-code using Terraform — implementing modularization, drift detection, and CI for infrastructure changes.
- • Drive cost optimization initiatives across the infrastructure and implement per-team cost visibility and FinOps practices to ensure scalable financial accountability.
- • Maintain and evolve Rally’s Datadog observability stack, building automation tools and runbooks to reduce operational toil and accelerate incident recovery.
- • Lead post-incident reviews and translate findings into systemic, preventative improvements to enhance platform reliability and resilience.
- • Enforce security and compliance standards including container scanning, secrets management, IAM least-privilege enforcement, and support SOC 2 audit requirements as needed.
- • Collaborate closely with Platform and Product Engineers across the stack to align infrastructure strategy with product goals and engineering workflows.
- • Work within a remote-first, async-first culture with core collaboration hours overlapping US time zones, contributing to clear written documentation and minimizing meetings to only essential collaboration and decision-making.
- • Participate in periodic in-person team offsites and annual company gatherings to strengthen team cohesion and strategic alignment.
- • Operate with high ownership from day one, shaping the future of Rally’s infrastructure as the company scales from 1→10 in platform maturity.
- • Contribute to an AI-native culture by actively experimenting with AI tools to improve workflows, reduce manual effort, and accelerate product development.
- • Work closely with UX Researchers, Research Ops leaders, designers, and product managers to ensure infrastructure supports user-centric research at scale.
- • Use Rally’s own platform to conduct user research, feeding direct insights into engineering priorities and product roadmap decisions.
- • Support the transition of Rally from ad-hoc research workflows to a continuous, automated research lifecycle powered by AI.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years in infrastructure, platform engineering, or SRE
- • Deep AWS experience: ECS/Fargate, RDS/Aurora, MSK, DynamoDB
- • Production Terraform with a track record of improving IaC maturity
- • CI/CD platform experience
- • Strong observability fundamentals
