Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • Own end-to-end development and evolution of homeowners insurance products, starting in California and expanding into new states, with accountability for profitability, loss performance, and market competitiveness.
  • • Analyze segment-level product performance to identify key risk drivers, underwriting leakage, and unprofitable exposures, then translate insights into actionable underwriting rule changes and product adjustments.
  • • Lead regular performance reviews with underwriting and actuarial teams to align product strategy with financial outcomes and risk exposure.
  • • Evaluate competitor offerings across coverages, deductibles, limits, endorsements, and state-specific regulatory constraints to define and refine a differentiated, profitable coverage suite.
  • • Identify coverage gaps and sequence them into a clear, prioritized product roadmap that balances market demand with operational feasibility and regulatory compliance.
  • • Lead the selection, integration, and ongoing evaluation of third-party data vendors (e.g., hazard scores, geospatial data, inspections) to enhance underwriting accuracy, pricing precision, and risk segmentation.
  • • Measure and communicate ROI for each data vendor based on predictive lift, operational efficiency gains, and cost impact across the quote and underwriting lifecycle.
  • • Own end-to-end product definition and launch for new states, including eligibility rules, coverage forms, mitigation credits, and vendor integrations, ensuring alignment with pricing, regulatory, and reinsurance constraints.
  • • Document state-specific product requirements clearly for actuarial, underwriting, engineering, and applied science teams to enable accurate implementation and compliance.
  • • Manage relationships with fronting carriers and product partners to secure timely approval of coverage forms, updates, and filings, driving low-friction approval cycles through proactive communication and documentation.
  • • Collaborate cross-functionally with underwriting, actuarial, engineering, and applied science teams to translate complex product decisions into clear, actionable requirements for engineering and QA.
  • • Ensure production product behavior matches filed designs and intended functionality, maintaining fidelity between regulatory filings and live product execution.
  • • Operate with full ownership in ambiguous, fast-moving environments, setting priorities and acting without waiting for direction while balancing actuarial rigor with underwriting pragmatism and market realities.
  • • Maintain high documentation discipline across all product decisions, requirements, and stakeholder communications to enable scalability and auditability.
  • • Avoid passive requirements management; instead, drive execution with accountability for real-world product performance across multiple states, vendors, and stakeholders simultaneously.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 8–12+ years of Insurance product management or product development experience, ideally in P&C insurance
  • • Strong understanding of homeowners insurance products, underwriting rules, and coverage structures
  • • Demonstrated ability to use performance data to drive concrete product and underwriting decisions
  • • Experience working cross-functionally with actuarial, underwriting, and engineering teams
  • • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with high documentation discipline
