- • Architect and own the entire iOS codebase for a digital-health platform that already serves hundreds of thousands of patients across the UK. You will define scalable patterns, modularise legacy code, and ensure every line supports rapid experimentation without compromising stability.
- • Lead the end-to-end delivery of high-impact features—from ideation with product and design, through technical design, implementation, QA, phased rollout, and post-release analytics. Recent examples include real-time prescription tracking, at-home blood-test result visualisation, and AI-driven habit-coaching journeys.
- • Mentor a growing pod of iOS, Android, and backend engineers. Run fortnightly architecture guilds, pair-programming sessions, and code-review clinics that lift overall craftsmanship and reduce onboarding time for new starters from weeks to days.
- • Champion an experimentation culture by integrating A/B testing frameworks, feature-flag systems, and remote-config pipelines so that product hypotheses can be validated in production within hours, not sprints.
- • Collaborate daily with clinicians, regulatory affairs, and data-privacy teams to ensure every feature meets MHRA and GDPR standards. You will translate complex medical workflows into intuitive, trustworthy user experiences that increase patient adherence and clinical outcomes.
- • Optimise app performance obsessively: reduce cold-start time, shrink binary size, and eliminate frame drops on older devices so that every patient—regardless of handset—enjoys a smooth, reliable experience.
- • Drive continuous delivery excellence. You will refine CI/CD pipelines, automate screenshot and unit-test generation, and own App Store submission strategy, cutting release cycles from monthly to weekly while maintaining 99.9 % crash-free sessions.
- • Influence company-level technical strategy. Present quarterly tech-radar updates to the exec team, evaluate emerging Apple frameworks (SwiftUI, HealthKit, CareKit), and decide when to adopt, fork, or bypass them based on patient impact and engineering ROI.
- • Contribute to open-source projects that intersect with digital health, raising Numan’s engineering brand and attracting top-tier talent. You will also author internal tech-blog posts and speak at meet-ups to share lessons learned from scaling a regulated iOS app.
- • Live and evangelise Numan’s five core values: Patients first, Learn fast, Own the quality, Succeed together, Care deeply—in every pull request, retro, and hallway conversation.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years shipping production-grade iOS apps written primarily in Swift, with at least one app scaled beyond 100 k monthly active users
- • Deep expertise in modern iOS architecture patterns (MVVM, Coordinators, Combine/SwiftUI) and performance tuning (Instruments, MetricKit)
- • Demonstrated experience mentoring engineers and leading technical decision-making across cross-functional squads
- • Comfortable operating in a regulated environment—ideally health, fintech, or e-commerce—with strong appreciation for privacy, security, and compliance constraints
- • Nice to have: hands-on CI/CD setup (GitHub Actions, Fastlane), automated testing at multiple layers (unit, snapshot, UI), and prior contribution to product strategy or technical roadmaps
