- • As a Senior or Lead Backend Engineer on FICO's Applied AI team, you will design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems and data pipelines that power critical functions across the platform, including fraud investigation, decision automation, and process optimization, directly impacting FICO's analytics and decision management solutions.
- • Day to day, you will design and deploy scalable backend systems and data pipelines, build high-quality data ingestion and transformation solutions, implement LLM-powered decision automation and RAG architectures, partner with data scientists and ML engineers to develop microservices and APIs, optimize distributed architectures for real-time processing, implement monitoring and performance optimization techniques, define architectural patterns for scalability, and lead and mentor engineering team members in best practices for software development, data engineering, and AI integration.

🎯 Requirements
- • 7+ years of experience in backend or data engineering with a track record of delivering complex, large-scale production systems
- • Strong coding skills in Python, Go, Java, or equivalent languages with a commitment to clean, maintainable, and well-tested code
- • Hands-on experience with big data frameworks (Apache Spark, Kafka, Hadoop) and strong understanding of relational and NoSQL databases
- • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and container orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes)
- • Proven ability to design, build, and maintain scalable, production-grade backend systems focused on reliability and performance
- • Solid experience with testing frameworks, performance optimization, and production monitoring/observability practices
- • Demonstrated experience integrating AI/ML solutions into production systems, including working with Large Language Models (LLMs)
- • Experience with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures and familiarity with vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, pgvector) is strongly preferred
- • Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with ability to mentor engineers, influence technical direction, and collaborate across disciplines
- • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; advanced degree is a plus but not required
