- • Serve as a Senior Lighting Artist on multiple game projects, contributing to the visual storytelling and atmosphere through advanced lighting techniques in Unreal Engine.
- • Collaborate closely with environment artists, level designers, and art directors to ensure lighting aligns with the artistic vision and technical constraints of each project.
- • Create and optimize dynamic and static lighting setups for both interior and exterior environments, balancing performance and aesthetic quality across target platforms.
- • Implement and refine global illumination, baked lighting, light probes, and real-time lighting systems to achieve cinematic and immersive results.
- • Troubleshoot and resolve lighting-related performance issues, including lightmap UVs, texel density, and draw call optimization.
- • Develop and maintain lighting pipelines and documentation to ensure consistency across teams and projects.
- • Review and provide constructive feedback on lighting work from junior artists and contractors to uphold studio quality standards.
- • Participate in regular art reviews, production meetings, and milestone planning sessions to align lighting deliverables with project schedules.
- • Stay current with industry trends and emerging lighting technologies, recommending improvements to enhance visual fidelity and workflow efficiency.
- • Adapt lighting approaches to suit diverse game genres, from narrative-driven experiences to action-oriented titles, ensuring visual cohesion and emotional impact.
- • Work within established asset budgets and technical guidelines while pushing creative boundaries to elevate the overall visual quality of the studio’s output.
- • Maintain clear communication with production and technical teams to anticipate and mitigate lighting-related bottlenecks during development cycles.
- • Contribute to the creation of lighting reference materials, mood boards, and lighting tests to support pre-production and concept development phases.
- • Ensure all lighting assets are properly named, organized, and delivered according to studio asset management protocols.
- • Support the integration of lighting into gameplay systems, including time-of-day cycles, weather effects, and interactive light sources.
- • Deliver high-quality lighting passes for cinematics, trailers, and marketing assets as required by the marketing and external production teams.
- • Adhere to studio policies regarding data security, version control (Perforce), and compliance with internal production workflows.

- • Proven experience as a Lighting Artist in the video game industry with a strong portfolio showcasing professional-grade lighting work in Unreal Engine.
- • Demonstrated ability to work within tight technical constraints while maintaining high artistic standards.
- • Legal eligibility to work in Canada and current residence within Canada.
