đź“‹ Description

  • • As a Senior Manager, Compliance Product Data at Coinbase, you will be at the forefront of shaping the future of economic freedom by ensuring the integrity and effectiveness of our compliance data ecosystem. This is a pivotal leadership role where you will act as a "player-coach," guiding a high-performing team of data product specialists while simultaneously architecting the strategic vision for our compliance data infrastructure.
  • • You will operate at the critical intersection of Engineering, Product, and Compliance, serving as the strategic visionary responsible for ensuring all data is "fit for purpose." Your role extends beyond mere oversight; you will mentor your team to meticulously build the foundational frameworks, robust data contracts, and standardized lineage protocols that seamlessly connect our technical data producers with our compliance-focused consumers.
  • • Your leadership will directly influence how Coinbase manages global risk, from quantifying the precise impact of data quality on the accuracy of false-positive alerts in our monitoring systems to navigating the complexities of an ever-evolving global regulatory landscape. This position demands a proactive and strategic mindset, with a deep understanding of both technical data architecture and the nuances of regulatory compliance.
  • • **Team Leadership & Mentorship:** You will be responsible for building, leading, and developing a team of talented Data Product Managers and Analysts. This includes fostering a culture that champions technical excellence, instills a strong sense of accountability, and promotes continuous improvement and professional growth within the team.
  • • **Strategic Product Ownership:** Provide world-class leadership for the entire Compliance data product suite. This encompasses critical areas such as Customer Risk Scoring, Transaction Monitoring, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Know Your Customer (KYC) processes, and Sanctions screening, ensuring these systems are robust, scalable, and compliant.
  • • **Architect Data Governance:** Lead the design and implementation of a comprehensive, end-to-end Compliance data risk framework. This framework will specifically address and mitigate Data Quality (DQ) risks, Usage Risks, and Lineage Risks, ensuring a high standard of data integrity across all compliance-related functions.
  • • **Enforce Data Contracts:** Act as the ultimate authority on formal data contracts established between data Producers (primarily Engineering teams) and data Consumers (including Compliance, Customer Experience, and other internal stakeholders). This involves defining stringent control requirements and establishing clear, effective change management protocols to maintain data consistency and reliability.
  • • **Oversee System-of-Capture Lineage:** Collaborate closely with senior engineering stakeholders to meticulously maintain comprehensive data lineage. This ensures complete transparency from the initial point of data generation through to its use in regulatory reporting, providing an auditable trail for all critical data flows.
  • • **Drive the Data Roadmap:** Serve as the strategic bridge connecting subject matter experts (SMEs) in Compliance with Engineering leadership. Your goal is to ensure that data integrity is a fundamental consideration in all technical design processes, rather than an afterthought or manual overlay.
  • • **Impact Measurement:** Develop and implement methodologies to measure the impact of data quality and data governance initiatives on key compliance metrics, such as alert accuracy, operational efficiency, and regulatory adherence. This will involve working with data scientists and analysts to build dashboards and reports that highlight the value of robust data practices.
  • • **Cross-Functional Collaboration:** Foster strong working relationships with various teams across Coinbase, including Engineering, Product Management, Legal, and Operations, to ensure alignment on data strategy and execution for compliance initiatives.
  • • **Regulatory Engagement:** Stay abreast of emerging regulatory requirements and industry best practices related to data management and compliance in the cryptocurrency space, translating these into actionable data product strategies and technical requirements.
  • • **Innovation and Best Practices:** Continuously explore and advocate for innovative data management techniques and technologies that can enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and security of Coinbase's compliance data systems.
  • • **Risk Mitigation:** Proactively identify potential data-related risks within the compliance domain and develop strategic plans and technical solutions to mitigate them effectively, ensuring Coinbase remains a trusted and secure platform.
  • • **Mentoring and Development:** Beyond direct team management, you will be a key mentor for individuals within the broader data and compliance organizations, sharing your expertise and fostering a data-centric culture throughout the company.
