• We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Manager to lead our Platform Engineering team within the Veeam Data Cloud (VDC) organization, based in Pune, India. This pivotal role is responsible for building and nurturing a high-performing, remote-first team, defining and executing a clear vision for our platform systems, and instilling a product-centric mindset across all operations.
• The Platform Engineering team's core mission is to deliver a secure, reliable, and user-friendly platform that empowers our internal development teams to efficiently build, test, deploy, and monitor the VDC product. • As the Senior Manager, you will be instrumental in defining and articulating the strategic direction and vision for the Platform Engineering team, ensuring alignment with broader company objectives and technological advancements.
• You will champion a product management approach, treating the platform as a product with clear owners, roadmaps, and success metrics, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and customer focus.
• Establishing and diligently tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) related to platform adoption, team productivity, and system reliability will be crucial for demonstrating value and identifying areas for enhancement.
• A significant aspect of this role involves building, mentoring, and inspiring a motivated and cohesive engineering team, fostering an environment that is inclusive, diverse, and supportive of individual career development and growth.
• You will guide the architectural design, implementation, and ongoing operation of our cloud-native platform systems, ensuring they are robust, scalable, and meet the highest standards of performance.
• Promoting a culture of operational excellence, with a relentless focus on reliability and security, will be paramount to maintaining the integrity and availability of our services.
• Encouraging and driving the adoption of modern engineering practices and tools, including Infrastructure as Code (IaC), advanced automation techniques, robust CI/CD pipelines, and comprehensive observability solutions, will be key to enhancing efficiency and reducing toil.
• You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Product Management, Software Engineering, Security, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), to ensure the platform effectively supports business objectives and evolving product requirements.
• Acting as a primary point of escalation and providing critical support during on-call rotations will be a necessary component of ensuring platform stability and rapid incident response.
• Proactively identifying and removing organizational bottlenecks that impede team progress and platform development will be essential for maintaining momentum and fostering a productive work environment.
• You will actively participate in broader engineering leadership discussions, contributing to strategic planning and decision-making processes that shape the future of Veeam's technology stack.
• Engaging actively in technical design discussions and code reviews will ensure the team maintains high technical standards and fosters knowledge sharing.
• Promoting effective cross-team collaboration and communication will be vital for breaking down silos and ensuring seamless integration of platform services with product development lifecycles.
• This role requires a leader who can prioritize effectively, communicate with clarity and conviction, and drive a high level of focus and excellence within a talented and opinionated team, leveraging high emotional intelligence, excellent communication skills, and empathy.
• You will utilize sound business judgment, demonstrate a proven ability to influence stakeholders at all levels, and apply strong analytical thinking skills to navigate complex challenges and drive successful outcomes.
• A demonstrated ability to formulate data-driven decisions that yield tangible results and a proven capacity to conceptualize, manage, and prioritize multiple concurrent projects will be critical for success.

🎯 Requirements

• 3+ years of experience leading engineering teams in Platform, DevOps, or SRE domains.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience as an engineer.
• Experience building and operating high-scale cloud-native applications.
• Experience promoting a culture of Operational Excellence with SaaS products.
• Experience with public cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Azure).
• Experience automating infrastructure through code using technologies such as Pulumi or Terraform.
• Experience with GitHub Actions and other modern CI/CD tools.
• High emotional intelligence, excellent communication skills, and empathy for others.
• Sound business judgment, proven ability to influence others, and strong analytical thinking skills.
