📋 Description

• • Lead the reinsurance controllership function for AIG’s domestic Commercial and Personal lines, owning the end-to-end accounting accuracy, internal-control design, and timely financial reporting for multi-billion-dollar external reinsurance programs.
• • Direct a high-performing team of three onshore professionals and an extensive offshore platform, orchestrating round-the-clock workflows that capitalize on global time-zone coverage to accelerate month-end close, enhance analytic depth, and reduce operational risk.
• • Own the bespoke Lloyd’s excess-of-loss program: identify eligible recoveries within policy terms, calculate variable ceding commissions, draft broker statements, and present executive-level summaries that translate reinsurance mechanics into clear P&L and balance-sheet impacts.
• • Manage global catastrophe treaties across all open contract years—spanning aggregate covers, reinstatement premium triggers, and commutation scenarios—ensuring statements of account are issued, cash is collected, and Treasury can optimize liquidity under tight deadlines.
• • React with precision to non-routine events: process cash calls, book reinstatement premiums tied to current and prior-year catastrophes, allocate cash on retrospectively-rated contracts, and maintain an auditable trail that satisfies both internal controls and external auditor requirements.
• • Provide controllership oversight for Travel Reinsurance as the business pursues strategic growth and divestiture initiatives, ensuring general-ledger integrity, timely broker billing, and seamless cash application while partnering with actuarial, underwriting, and claims teams.
• • Serve as the primary finance contact for external and internal auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits, preparing support files, walkthroughs, and control documentation that demonstrate SOX compliance and robust risk management.
• • Continuously refine processes by leveraging AIG’s newly transformed finance architecture—SAP S/4, Alteryx, and Power BI—automating reconciliations, streamlining data feeds, and embedding predictive analytics that surface early-warning indicators of recoverable balances.
• • Translate complex reinsurance concepts into actionable insights for senior leadership, using variance analysis, trend commentary, and scenario modeling to influence underwriting strategy, pricing decisions, and capital allocation.
• • Foster a culture of inclusion and professional growth: mentor junior staff, sponsor Employee Resource Group events, and champion continuous-learning opportunities such as ARe or CPCU designations to deepen technical expertise across the team.
• • Champion cross-functional collaboration—working closely with Reinsurance Collections, Treasury, Claims, Actuarial, and IT—to ensure that every operational input is accurately reflected in financial outputs, eliminating surprises and enhancing transparency.
