đź“‹ Description
- • WatchGuard Technologies is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Manager, Revenue Accounting to spearhead all facets of revenue accounting and accounts receivable within our dynamic and expanding global SaaS and technology business. This pivotal role offers significant visibility and demands a hands-on approach to leadership, with the primary responsibility of ensuring that all revenue accounting operations are accurate, compliant with regulatory standards, and scalable to support future growth, all in strict adherence to ASC 606.
- • As the designated subject matter expert, you will possess deep technical knowledge of GAAP revenue recognition principles, proficiency in NetSuite Advanced Revenue Management (ARM), and a thorough understanding of SKU setup. Your role will involve extensive cross-functional collaboration to champion business expansion, drive automation initiatives, and foster operational excellence across the organization.
- • Your daily activities will be a strategic blend of hands-on execution and forward-thinking leadership. A typical day might commence with a comprehensive review of the revenue closing process, an analysis of deferred revenue movements, or the resolution of intricate ASC 606 judgments pertaining to non-standard contractual agreements. Throughout the day, you will engage closely with key departments including Sales Operations, Deal Desk, Legal, and Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A). This collaboration is crucial to guarantee the correct initial setup of contracts, SKUs, and system configurations, thereby preventing downstream issues.
- • A significant portion of your time will be dedicated to working within NetSuite, meticulously reviewing ARM configurations, revenue schedules, and identifying opportunities for automation. Concurrently, you will be actively involved in coaching and mentoring your team, proactively removing obstacles that impede progress, and continuously refining processes throughout the entire order-to-cash lifecycle. As the ultimate owner of revenue audit readiness, you will be responsible for maintaining meticulous documentation, ensuring the effective operation of internal controls, and addressing all audit requests with efficiency, confidence, and accuracy.
- • You are expected to be a confident and proactive leader in revenue accounting, thriving in the fast-paced and ever-evolving environment characteristic of SaaS and technology companies. Your profile should include profound technical expertise in ASC 606 and GAAP revenue recognition, complemented by practical experience in applying these complex accounting standards to real-world business scenarios. You must be comfortable taking ownership of outcomes, making critical judgment calls, and confidently defending your conclusions, particularly when presenting to auditors and senior leadership.
- • A key attribute is your ability to establish structure and robust processes in areas where they are still developing. You will be motivated by the pursuit of enhanced accuracy, increased automation, and greater scalability. Effective communication is paramount; you will translate complex accounting concepts into clear, actionable guidance for both finance and non-finance stakeholders. As a people leader, you will set high standards, provide unambiguous clarity and accountability, and actively invest in the professional development of your team members. Above all, you will demonstrate a strong sense of ownership, viewing revenue accounting not just as a compliance function, but as a critical enabler of the company's strategic objectives.
- • You should be adept at leading distributed teams across various geographies and time zones, possessing the skills to foster clarity, establish accountability, and build strong, collaborative partnerships between onshore and offshore resources. Your comfort level with large, complex datasets is essential, leveraging strong Excel and analytical skills to dissect issues, pinpoint root causes, and drive accurate, timely resolutions.
- • You will be energized by the challenge of identifying and rectifying inefficient or manual processes, taking pride in leaving systems and workflows demonstrably improved. Your approach will balance the imperative for accuracy and compliance with the practical necessity of automation and scalability, demonstrating a capacity to drive meaningful change within environments where processes are still maturing. This role is instrumental in ensuring the financial integrity and operational efficiency of our revenue recognition processes, directly impacting the company's financial reporting and strategic decision-making.
