• • Your primary responsibility will be to recruit, mentor, and develop talented engineers and cultivate the next generation of technical leaders within the organization. You will focus on building strong, cohesive teams characterized by psychological safety, accountability, and empathy, ensuring effective execution and delivery of complex projects.
• • Collaboration is key in this role. You will work closely with partners in Product Management, Design, and other engineering leads to define and execute team vision and strategy. This includes contributing to the product roadmap, developing execution and resource plans, and setting clear priorities that align with Oportun's strategic objectives.
• • You will play a vital role in elevating the technical capabilities of your team. This involves coaching engineers on designing scalable and secure systems, conducting thorough reviews of pull requests and technical design documents, and being willing to actively participate in debugging and shipping code when necessary to support your team's efforts.
• • Driving robust engineering practices is paramount. You will champion operational excellence in areas such as observability, quality, reliability, and developer efficiency, ensuring that our development processes are streamlined and effective.
• • Effective communication and stakeholder management are essential. You will be responsible for building alignment and communicating clearly across all levels of the organization, from individual contributors to senior leadership.

• • You will be responsible for the management and execution against project plans and delivery commitments, ensuring that projects are completed on time and within scope.
• • This position involves the management of departmental resources, staffing, and the continuous enhancement and maintenance of a best-of-class engineering team.
• • You will guide and coach Scrum Teams on the effective application of Agile practices and principles to deliver high-quality products. As a Scrum Master, you will facilitate and support all Scrum ceremonies for the teams.
• • You will ensure the delivery of capabilities using agile practices, while also adhering to the Software Development Lifecycle, business process mapping, and various release processes to guarantee all risk, security, and development requirements are met.
• • You will be responsible for ensuring the craftsmanship, security, availability, resilience, and scalability of all solutions developed by your teams.
• • You will contribute to the evolution of software engineering practices within the organization, including improvements in reporting, tools, and the development methodology itself.
• • You will continue to build an effective development organization by developing and managing the group, and conducting performance reviews of team members, fostering their professional growth and development.
