- ⢠As a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Eight Sleep, you will play a pivotal role in advancing the companyâs mission to transform sleep into a data-driven recovery experience by developing next-generation electromechanical systems that go beyond temperature regulation to personalize additional sleep-related modalities.
- ⢠Your work will directly contribute to creating cutting-edge hardware that empowers high performers, athletes, and health-conscious consumers worldwide to wake up stronger, aligning with Eight Sleepâs recognition as a Fast Company Most Innovative Company and TIMEâs Best Inventions honoree.
- ⢠Day to day, you will architect and design complex electromechanical systems integrating plastic, metal, and soft goods components with novel sensors and actuators, ensuring seamless functionality and performance.
- ⢠You will drive designs through the full development lifecycleâfrom initial concept and brainstorming phases, through detailed CAD modeling, rapid prototyping, rigorous testing, and finally supporting ramp-up to high-volume production in Asia.
- ⢠You will solve highly cross-functional challenges by collaborating closely with electrical engineers, sensor engineers, algorithm developers, soft goods engineers, reliability teams, and manufacturing partners to ensure system-level integration and optimal performance.
- ⢠You will perform critical analysis and testing, including thermal, fluid, and structural simulations, to validate that designs meet stringent product goals for durability, efficiency, and user experience.
- ⢠You will help shape product direction by partnering with industrial design, marketing, product management, and company leadership to translate user needs and market insights into tangible mechanical innovations.

đŻ Requirements
- ⢠3+ years of consumer product design experience with expertise in injection molding, sheet metal forming, and sensor/electronics integration.
- ⢠Proven experience shipping high-volume consumer products, including hands-on manufacturing support in Asia.
- ⢠Advanced proficiency in 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks, NX, or Creo.
- ⢠Strong background in design for manufacturability and assembly (DFM/DFA), tolerance analysis, functional dimensioning, and geometric tolerancing (GD&T).
- ⢠Solid understanding of root cause analysis, Design of Experiments (DOE), and other quality measurement techniques.
- ⢠BSME degree or equivalent academic qualification.
- ⢠Willingness and ability to travel to China as needed for production support and supplier collaboration.
