- • Own and drive the mechanical design of Omen, Anduril’s hover-to-cruise autonomous air vehicle, from initial concept through low-rate production.
- • Lead technical efforts to define requirements, propose solutions, and establish methodologies for evaluating and verifying mechanical systems.
- • Collaborate closely with electrical, software, and other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated, reliable, and cost-effective system performance.
- • Spearhead design reviews, conduct structural analysis, visit vendor facilities, and implement hardware test plans for airframe subsystems.
- • Support full life cycle development of assembly fixturing and tooling, including design, procurement, build, and implementation.
- • Apply deep expertise in composite and metallic airframe manufacturing processes, including machining, locating, fixturing, fastening, joining, and fuel sealing.
- • Optimize vehicle subsystems for development speed, mass, manufacturability, and cost while maintaining structural integrity and performance standards.
- • Actively contribute to improving team tools, templates, processes, and engineering standards.
- • Participate in critical customer hardware demonstrations and field testing at remote sites.
- • Travel to test locations and vendor facilities as required to support development, integration, and validation activities.
- • Cultivate a high-energy, collaborative, and educational team environment focused on innovation and mission success.
- • Ensure all mechanical designs comply with defense industry standards and are eligible for U.S. government security protocols.
🎯 Requirements
- • 8+ years of professional experience in a technical engineering role
- • Strong technical knowledge in core engineering principles, composite material mechanics, design, analysis, testing, and fabrication
- • Deep understanding of load paths, design practices, and hand calculations for structurally efficient assemblies
- • Proficiency in CAD software (NX preferred) with emphasis on complex fixturing and tooling design
- • Hands-on experience supporting assembly fixturing and tooling through full life cycle development
- • Expertise in high-performance airframe manufacturing and assembly processes, including composite and metallic part integration
- • BS or MS in mechanical engineering or equivalent work experience
- • Demonstrated hands-on fabrication skills
- • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance
