Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Build and ship features across Babylist’s iOS and Android apps, owning the full development lifecycle from specification to production deployment.
- • Lead the mobile build-out of Babylist’s new education experience, including classes, content, and resources for families preparing for parenthood.
- • Drive performance improvements on both iOS and Android platforms by identifying root causes of bottlenecks, not just surface-level symptoms.
- • Write clean, testable, and maintainable code while holding the team to high standards through code reviews and architectural guidance.
- • Collaborate directly with product managers and designers to translate complex requirements into intuitive, high-fidelity mobile interfaces — actively participating in decision-making, not receiving finalized specs.
- • Partner with backend and full-stack engineers to influence API design and cross-platform architecture, bringing a mobile-first perspective to system-wide decisions.
- • Apply deep expertise in either Swift (iOS) or Kotlin (Android), with solid working knowledge of the other platform and the ability to articulate tradeoffs between them.
- • Implement mobile UI components using SwiftUI and/or Jetpack Compose, UIKit, Auto Layout, and Jetpack Libraries — building in code rather than relying on configuration alone.
- • Leverage AI tools daily as a natural part of the engineering workflow to accelerate prototyping, explore design tradeoffs, generate boilerplate code, and focus human judgment on high-impact decisions.
- • Use established mobile architecture patterns (MVVM, MVC, etc.) strategically based on project needs, not habit or convention.
- • Interpret Figma designs accurately, push back on impractical mobile implementations, and bridge the gap between design intent and technical execution.
- • Ship consumer-facing mobile products to millions of real users with a strong focus on user experience, not just functional correctness or test coverage.
- • Contribute to a modern, actively maintained codebase without spending months on legacy debt — enabling immediate impact on high-priority, revenue-generating features.
- • Work within a remote-first team across the U.S. and Canada, with biannual in-person gatherings to strengthen collaboration and culture.
🎯 Requirements
- • Build production-quality iOS or Android apps in Swift or Kotlin
- • Fluent in mobile architecture patterns such as MVVM or MVC
- • Expertise in SwiftUI and/or Jetpack Compose, UIKit, Auto Layout, or Jetpack Libraries
- • Have shipped consumer-facing mobile products to real users
- • Naturally integrate AI tools into daily engineering workflows
- • Collaborate effectively with designers, product managers, and backend engineers
🏖️ Benefits
- • Competitive salary ranging from $193,805 to $232,566 with equity and bonus opportunities
- • Company-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance
- • Retirement savings plan with company matching and flexible spending accounts
- • Generous paid parental leave and PTO
- • Remote work stipend to set up your home office
- • Perks for physical, mental, and emotional health, parenting, childcare, and financial planning
