- • The Core Infrastructure Engineering team at Kraken is seeking a highly skilled and dynamic Senior Network Engineer to join our ranks. You will be an integral part of a dedicated team responsible for the comprehensive management of our entire network infrastructure.
- • We are looking for an innovative self-starter who can think creatively and develop sustainable solutions to complex network challenges. This role demands a proactive approach to implementing and evolving enterprise network access controls, ensuring robust security and seamless connectivity across our global operations.
- • A key responsibility will be the management and deployment of infrastructure as code (IaC) at scale. You will leverage automation to streamline network provisioning, configuration, and management, enhancing efficiency and reducing manual errors. This includes contributing to the design, implementation, management, and defense of a zero-trust, defense-in-depth network architecture, which is paramount in safeguarding our critical digital assets.
- • You will be instrumental in developing and enforcing high-quality policies, procedures, and technical documentation. This ensures consistency, clarity, and adherence to best practices across all network operations. Collaboration is essential, and you will work closely with internal development teams and various stakeholders to embed network security principles from the initial stages of product development, ensuring security is built-in, not an afterthought.
- • Partnering with Engineering and IT Security teams, you will ensure that new product features are deployed securely and are continuously monitored for any potential threats or performance issues. Your expertise will be crucial in maintaining the integrity and availability of our network.
- • This role involves the comprehensive monitoring and maintenance of all physical infrastructure, including network devices, security appliances, and compute resources. You will also oversee our cloud data center environments and remote office locations, responding swiftly to critical network problems to maximize service uptime and minimize disruption.
- • A significant aspect of this position is mentoring and evangelizing security best practices. Through cross-functional collaboration with internal stakeholders and teams, you will foster a security-conscious culture throughout the organization, ensuring everyone understands their role in maintaining a secure network environment.
- • You will be involved in capacity planning for switching infrastructure, managing VLANs, and optimizing routing protocols such as OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, ECMP, and PBF. Expertise in WAN technologies including MPLS, VPLS, and VPNs is essential, as is a deep understanding of public cloud networking and security concepts like Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS) and Role-Based Access Control (RBAC).
- • The role requires demonstrated experience in implementing defensive security systems designed to counter both internal and external attack vectors. You will also be responsible for the monitoring and management of intrusion detection systems and firewall devices, ensuring our defenses are robust and up-to-date.

🎯 Requirements
- • Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in network engineering, with a strong emphasis on offensive and defensive security principles.
- • Deep, hands-on experience with public cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform) and/or private/hybrid cloud environments.
- • Proven experience with network automation tools and frameworks such as Nornir, Napalm, Terraform, or Ansible, including managing and deploying Infrastructure as Code (IaC) at scale.
- • Proficiency in network and security design, implementation, and administration using industry-standard platforms from vendors like Palo Alto Networks, Cisco, Juniper, and Aruba.
