Full Job Description

📋 Description

  • • Ameresco, a leading energy solutions provider committed to helping customers achieve cost reduction, enhanced resilience, and net-zero decarbonization, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Process Engineer to join its dynamic Alternative Fuels team. This pivotal role is instrumental in ensuring the optimal performance and continuous improvement of gas processing plants, focusing on minimizing downtime and achieving ambitious production goals.
  • • As a Senior Process Engineer, you will be at the forefront of designing and procuring essential equipment. This involves conducting detailed design calculations, preparing comprehensive equipment specifications, and actively soliciting bids from suppliers. You will play a key role in the procurement of critical mechanical equipment and instrumentation, ensuring that all components meet stringent project requirements. Furthermore, you will be responsible for the end-to-end design of Landfill Gas to Energy (LFGTE) plants and high-efficiency Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) facilities. This includes developing detailed General Arrangement (GA) layouts, Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Bills of Materials (BOMs), 2D bid drawings, and specifying routing/piping subsystems and construction drawings.
  • • Your responsibilities extend to comprehensive process planning, where you will develop, direct, and coordinate all aspects of gas processing operations. This includes evaluating technological needs and seamlessly integrating new and existing technologies into the gas processing plants to enhance efficiency and output.
  • • A critical aspect of this role is ensuring unwavering quality assurance. You will be empowered to stop or postpone gas processing operations if any quality or regulatory concerns arise, coordinating swift and effective resolutions. A significant part of your day-to-day will involve close collaboration with personnel at gas processing plants to troubleshoot complex issues, develop robust maintenance practices, and foster a culture of proactive problem-solving.
  • • You will conduct thorough investigations into process and production failures, meticulously implementing corrective actions and preparing detailed reports to communicate findings, resolutions, and progress to stakeholders. This proactive approach to problem-solving is vital for maintaining operational integrity.
  • • Providing essential engineering support to operations, particularly for LFGTE and RNG plants, is a core function. This support encompasses design, instrumentation, and maintenance aspects. You will work collaboratively with all engineering disciplines and operations staff, gaining a deep understanding of existing processes and providing crucial design input for future enhancements and projects.
  • • Driving process improvement initiatives is a key objective. You will develop, evaluate, and refine gas processing methods, modifying existing processes to enhance safety, elevate product quality, and optimize cost efficiency. This continuous improvement mindset is central to Ameresco's operational philosophy.
  • • Meticulous documentation and clear communication are paramount. You will be responsible for creating accurate P&IDs, BOMs, and other essential engineering documentation. Compiling quality data, establishing regular communication channels, and facilitating action plans for continuous improvement will be ongoing tasks. You will also create detailed project specifications, including instrumentation specifications, Management of Change (MOC) documents, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • • In terms of safety and decision-making, you will analyze workforce utilization, space requirements, and workflow to design efficient equipment and workspace layouts. Your technical competence will be demonstrated through sound decisions on proper equipment selection and application, always considering cost, value, application suitability, safety, and reliability.
  • • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of industry standards such as ASME, AGA, API, AISC, OSHA, and ASTM is crucial. You will collaborate effectively with outside vendors, contractors, and design teams to ensure project specifications are met and deadlines are achieved.
  • • A significant aspect of this senior role involves mentorship, where you will guide and develop other Process Engineers within the Alternative Fuels business unit, fostering their technical and professional growth.
  • • This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a sustainable future by optimizing energy solutions and driving innovation in the alternative fuels sector. You will be an integral part of a company that is making a tangible difference in the global energy transition.
