Full Job Description

📋 Description

  • Back Market is on a mission to revolutionize the tech industry by making reliable, affordable, and sustainable technology accessible to everyone. We are a thriving global marketplace dedicated to refurbished devices, significantly reducing our collective environmental footprint by offering trustworthy, cost-effective tech with a remarkable 92% lower carbon emission rate compared to new products. This commitment to sustainability is at the core of everything we do, from our customer service to our engineering teams. Every device purchased through Back Market contributes to a healthier planet and a more conscious consumption model. Our fundamental principle is to maximize the utility of existing resources, embodying the idea of 'doing more with what we already have.' We are seeking passionate individuals ready to join us in this impactful endeavor.
  • As a Senior Product Analyst specializing in Experimentation, you will play a pivotal role in scaling rigorous, high-impact product experimentation across our organization. Your deep, hands-on expertise in experimentation – encompassing statistical, technical, and operational aspects – will be instrumental in structuring and enhancing how experimentation is conducted within our product teams. You will be a key contributor to raising and enforcing experimentation standards, empowering Product Managers to achieve autonomy within a well-defined framework, and contributing to the development and maintenance of scalable workflows and robust governance. A critical part of your role will be to ensure the highest levels of statistical and methodological rigor in all experimental endeavors.
  • You will report directly to the Customer Experience Analytics Lead, fostering close collaboration with Senior Leadership, Product Managers, Engineering teams, and Data Scientists. Your insights and efforts will directly support and execute the overarching experimentation vision for Back Market.
  • **Elevate Experimentation Standards:** You will be responsible for providing clear, actionable frameworks for designing effective tests, covering crucial elements such as statistical power, appropriate segmentation, defining guardrails, and ensuring validity. A significant part of your role will involve assisting in the validation of experiment setups prior to launch, ensuring a smooth process without becoming a bottleneck. You will meticulously review experiment results to guarantee sound statistical interpretation and the extraction of meaningful learnings. Furthermore, you will actively promote best practices, including the judicious use of AA tests, proactive bias detection, and ensuring metric consistency, thereby empowering teams to confidently conduct their own experiments.
  • **Structure Workflows & Governance:** You will contribute significantly to defining standardized experimentation workflows, from the initial ideation phase through to the final readout and analysis. This includes providing essential guardrails that enable safe and effective self-service experimentation for various teams. You will play a key role in formalizing ownership structures, decision-making frameworks, and review processes to ensure clarity and efficiency. Standardization of templates for hypotheses, test plans, and readouts will be a core responsibility, ensuring consistency and ease of use. You will also ensure the consistency of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) across different teams and geographical markets, and support the ongoing evolution and optimization of our experimentation platform usage.
  • **Enable PM Autonomy (Within a Framework):** A crucial aspect of your role will be to train and coach Product Managers, equipping them with the necessary skills in hypothesis formulation, understanding fundamental statistical concepts, and effectively interpreting experiment results. The goal is to reduce the dependency on dedicated analysts for routine experiment execution, fostering a more agile and data-driven product development cycle.
  • **Strategic Product Partnership:** You will contribute to strategic product prioritization by accurately sizing potential opportunities and identifying experimentation initiatives that promise the highest business impact. Ensuring that all experiments are strategically aligned with overarching product and company goals will be paramount. You will serve as a primary reference point for all experimentation-related topics within the Product Analytics team, sharing knowledge and best practices.
  • This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of experimentation at a rapidly growing, mission-driven company. You will have a direct impact on product development, customer experience, and the company's sustainability goals, working in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

🎯 Requirements

  • 4–8+ years of experience in scaling Product Analytics and Experimentation functions.
  • Strong hands-on experience in designing, executing, and analyzing A/B tests at scale within a product development context.
  • Proven experience in structuring and implementing experimentation processes and best practices across multiple cross-functional teams.
  • Comfortable and effective working within cross-functional product environments, collaborating closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and Designers.
  • Strong statistical foundations, including a deep understanding of experimental design principles, statistical inference, bias detection, and power analysis.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL for data extraction, manipulation, and analysis.
  • Experience with experimentation platforms such as Amplitude, Statsig, Eppo, Optimizely, or similar tools.
  • Solid understanding of data warehousing environments (e.g., BigQuery) and data tracking mechanisms.
  • Experience with product analytics tools and methodologies.

🏖️ Benefits

  • Competitive salary and stock options package.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Generous paid time off and holidays.
  • Opportunities for professional development and continuous learning.
  • A dynamic and inclusive work environment with a strong focus on sustainability and positive impact.
  • Regular team events and social activities.
