- • Lead end-to-end UI/UX design for Epoch AI’s digital products, including the company website, dashboards, and data visualization tools used by researchers and policymakers.
- • Translate complex research findings into intuitive, accessible, and visually compelling designs that enhance understanding and engagement among non-technical audiences.
- • Own the design direction for all customer-facing digital assets, ensuring consistency, clarity, and alignment with Epoch AI’s mission and brand identity.
- • Collaborate directly with the Head of Operations, research teams, communications staff, and web developers to define design requirements and deliver high-impact outputs.
- • Design interactive data visualizations that effectively communicate quantitative insights, prioritizing usability, accuracy, and aesthetic clarity.
- • Conduct user-centered design processes, including research, wireframing, prototyping, and usability testing, to validate design decisions with target stakeholders.
- • Establish and evolve design systems, component libraries, and style guides to scale design quality across multiple products and teams.
- • Ensure all designs meet accessibility standards and are inclusive of diverse user needs, particularly those of researchers and policymakers with varying technical expertise.
- • Work autonomously to prioritize design tasks, manage timelines, and deliver high-fidelity outputs in a fast-paced, research-driven environment.
- • Provide mentorship and design feedback to junior designers or cross-functional team members as needed, fostering a culture of design excellence.
- • Stay current with emerging trends in data visualization, UX best practices, and digital design tools relevant to scientific communication.
- • Participate in cross-functional planning sessions to align design strategy with organizational goals and research priorities.
- • Maintain a portfolio that demonstrates expertise in translating abstract or technical content into clear, engaging user experiences.
- • Ensure all design work supports Epoch AI’s commitment to transparency, equity, and impact in public understanding of research.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proven experience as a Senior Product Designer with a portfolio showcasing UI/UX and data visualization work for complex, research-based or technical content
- • Expertise in designing dashboards, data visualizations, and interactive interfaces for non-technical audiences
- • Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and experience conducting usability testing
- • Proficiency in industry-standard design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD
- • Ability to work independently and manage multiple design projects with minimal supervision
- • Experience collaborating with research, communications, and engineering teams in a remote setting
