- • Lead end-to-end design for Samsara’s AI and agentic workflows product area, shaping intelligent automation experiences for physical operations teams in agriculture, construction, field services, transportation, and manufacturing.
- • Own the design system and rebrand initiatives, ensuring consistency, scalability, and usability across Samsara’s Connected Operations™ Cloud platform.
- • Collaborate directly with Product and Engineering teams to define, prototype, and ship high-impact product features that improve safety, efficiency, and sustainability in physical operations.
- • Conduct user research and gather feedback from customers in industrial sectors to inform design decisions and validate assumptions around AI-driven workflows.
- • Translate complex operational data and IoT insights into intuitive, actionable interfaces that enable non-technical users to make informed decisions.
- • Define and evolve design patterns, components, and guidelines that support cross-product consistency and accelerate team velocity.
- • Advocate for user-centered design principles across the organization, influencing product strategy through data-informed design recommendations.
- • Partner with cross-functional teams to align design outputs with business objectives, including reducing operational downtime, improving driver safety, and enhancing equipment uptime.
- • Present design solutions to stakeholders, including executives and external customers, with clear rationale grounded in user needs and business outcomes.
- • Maintain a deep understanding of Samsara’s product ecosystem, including Video-Based Safety, Vehicle Telematics, Apps and Driver Workflows, and Equipment Monitoring, to ensure cohesive design language.
- • Iterate rapidly on prototypes and high-fidelity mockups using industry-standard tools, ensuring designs are technically feasible and aligned with engineering capabilities.
- • Document design decisions, handoff specifications, and design system usage guidelines to enable seamless collaboration across global teams.
- • Stay current with emerging trends in AI, automation, and industrial UX to ensure Samsara’s design approach remains innovative and competitive.
- • Represent the design team in cross-departmental initiatives, contributing to product roadmaps and long-term vision planning for the Connected Operations™ Cloud.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proven experience as a Senior Product Designer with a strong portfolio showcasing design system leadership and rebranding initiatives
- • Demonstrated expertise in designing AI-driven, data-rich interfaces for industrial or operational environments
- • Deep understanding of user research methodologies and ability to translate insights into actionable design solutions
- • Proficiency in Figma, Sketch, or similar design tools with experience in component library management
- • Experience collaborating closely with Product and Engineering teams in agile environments
- • Strong communication skills to influence stakeholders and present design rationale to non-design audiences
