- • Own the end-to-end strategy, roadmap, and delivery for churn prevention, dunning, and salvage flows within Paddle’s payments and billing platform, directly impacting subscription revenue and customer lifetime value.
- • Define and lead the development of a configurable customisation layer that enables merchants to tailor billing experiences—including branding, language, and flow configuration—to their unique customer bases and markets without fragmenting the codebase or increasing support burden.
- • Lead product strategy for payment recovery, proactive retention interventions, and offer mechanics (upsell/cross-sell) embedded within the billing experience, partnering with growth and data teams to personalise and test offer effectiveness.
- • Own and drive the KPIs for retention rate, involuntary churn, offer conversion, and incremental revenue, using data to shape business-wide strategy beyond the product roadmap—including pricing, GTM, risk policy, and customer segmentation.
- • Independently analyse product data, form hypotheses, and deliver data-driven recommendations without relying on analysts; leverage AI tools to accelerate research, writing, analysis, and prototyping.
- • Lead high-impact, complex product initiatives end-to-end with minimal oversight, ensuring high standards across discovery, specification, experimentation, launch quality, and impact measurement.
- • Work in a tight trio with a senior engineering lead and experienced product designer to ship fast, instrument effectively, and iterate based on real customer signals and behavioural data.
- • Run a continuous optimisation programme across high-volume billing surfaces to compound retention and UX gains over time.
- • Align senior stakeholders—including Exco, Sales leadership, and key merchants—around retention strategy through compelling written narratives that drive decisions, not just meetings or decks.
- • Act as a credible technical partner to engineering on billing logic, API integrations, and platform architecture, demonstrating fluency in payment systems and subscription economics.
- • Navigate complex trade-offs across technical constraints, commercial impact, compliance requirements, and UX, making tough prioritisation calls that balance merchant needs with platform scalability.
- • Build and ship in fast-paced, scale-up environments, thriving in ambiguity and delivering zero-to-one products with measurable commercial outcomes.
- • Communicate with exceptional clarity and influence through written documentation, ensuring product vision and rationale are transparent, persuasive, and actionable across engineering, design, sales, and executive teams.
- • Foster a customer-centric product culture by grounding decisions in subscriber behaviour, merchant feedback, competitive benchmarks, and Paddle’s commercial goals.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proven experience owning a high-stakes, commercially critical product area with measurable business impact, particularly in payments, billing, or consumer-facing fintech at scale.
- • Hands-on expertise in subscription economics, churn mechanics, dunning strategy, and how small UX or technical changes drive retention outcomes.
- • Demonstrated ability to work with engineering teams on billing systems, APIs, and platform trade-offs without requiring translation or simplification.
- • Strong data fluency: ability to independently pull, analyse, and interpret product data to form hypotheses and drive recommendations.
- • Experience building and shipping in scale-up or startup environments, including zero-to-one product development.
- • Exceptional written communication skills, with a track record of producing decision-driving documentation that influences cross-functional leadership.
