📋 Description
- • Lead the strategic development, operationalization, and continuous evolution of Zillow’s global HR compliance programs, ensuring alignment with federal, state, local, and international employment laws and regulations.
- • Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate risks within HR policies, systems, and practices, translating complex legal and regulatory requirements into practical, employee-centric solutions that support Zillow’s broader risk and people strategy.
- • Drive program alignment, execution, and continuous improvement by fostering strong partnerships with key stakeholders across People Legal, HR Centers of Expertise, IT, Employee Service Center, Privacy, and other shared services teams.
- • Develop and manage comprehensive program roadmaps and initiatives that scale effectively with Zillow’s business growth, ensuring compliance is embedded throughout the employee lifecycle.
- • Masterfully navigate and influence diverse stakeholder groups, including senior leadership, to gain consensus on priorities, manage competing demands, and drive the adoption of critical compliance initiatives through clear, compelling communication and robust change management strategies.
- • Translate intricate regulatory landscapes and compliance mandates into actionable plans, detailed timelines, and measurable deliverables, ensuring stakeholder buy-in and minimizing potential business disruptions.
- • Proactively manage and communicate the impact of change across various teams, identifying and escalating potential risks and dependencies to guarantee the successful and timely execution of compliance programs.
- • Champion a culture of continuous improvement by actively soliciting and incorporating stakeholder feedback, analyzing lessons learned from past initiatives, and adapting programs to meet evolving business needs and regulatory shifts.
- • Stay abreast of and interpret evolving federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, such as the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) laws, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and other pertinent requirements, ensuring the accuracy and currency of all mandatory workplace postings.
- • Partner closely with Legal and HR stakeholders to translate regulatory mandates into compliant HR practices, establish clear operational controls, and provide practical guidance for day-to-day HR operations.
- • Take ownership of Zillow’s global background check program, ensuring strict adherence to all applicable laws, maintaining robust vendor governance, establishing clear adjudication guidelines, and ensuring consistent, fair execution across all operational regions.
- • Lead the end-to-end process for preparing, coordinating, and submitting essential federal employment reports, including EEO-1, California Pay Data, and other mandated workforce filings, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
- • Support the comprehensive governance framework and ongoing maintenance of global HR policies, employee handbooks, and mandatory guidelines, working collaboratively with Legal and HR Centers of Expertise.
- • Collaborate effectively with HR Technology, IT, and Product teams to ensure that HR systems and tools are optimally configured to support core compliance requirements, including secure document retention, efficient employment eligibility tracking, mandatory training delivery, and accurate regulatory reporting.
- • Drive the successful rollout and deployment of annual compliance training programs, coordinating seamlessly with content owners and the Talent Success team to guarantee timely and effective completion across the organization.
- • Partner with Enterprise Records Management and relevant stakeholders to spearhead the implementation and operationalization of the People organization’s record management strategy, encompassing governance, retention requirements, and execution across all relevant processes and systems.
- • Lead internal HR compliance audits and comprehensive risk assessments to systematically identify, evaluate, and address potential areas of compliance vulnerability.
- • Act as a primary HR liaison for internal and external audits, as well as regulatory inquiries, working in close partnership with the Legal department to ensure a coordinated and effective response.
- • Collaborate with HR Centers of Expertise to support and manage audit remediation efforts, meticulously tracking corrective actions, monitoring progress against plans, and escalating any emerging risks to ensure timely resolution.
- • Partner with control owners, Finance, Internal Audit, Compliance, and other cross-functional teams to ensure robust audit readiness for SOX, SOC 2, and other enterprise-level audit requirements, ensuring all documentation and evidence are meticulously prepared and readily available.
- • Develop and maintain sophisticated HR compliance dashboards, key performance indicators (KPIs), and critical risk indicators (KRIs) to provide clear, actionable visibility into compliance status and trends for HR and executive leadership.
- • Conduct in-depth analysis of compliance data to pinpoint gaps, identify emerging trends, assess risks, and pinpoint root causes, translating these analytical insights into concrete, actionable recommendations for program enhancement.
- • Lead and manage diverse HR compliance initiatives from inception to completion, including the implementation of new regulatory requirements, enhancements to HR systems, and significant changes to policies or processes.
- • Foster a collaborative and inclusive environment, valuing diverse perspectives and encouraging applications from candidates with non-traditional backgrounds and transferable skills.
