Senior Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer

📋 Description

• • Own the end-to-end quality strategy for Made’s mobile (Flutter) and web products, ensuring every release delights millions of homeowners who rely on our credit-card and home-management platform.
• • Design and execute comprehensive test plans that span functional, regression, integration, performance, and security testing, covering both frontend UI and backend services (Python, Postgres, DynamoDB, Redis) running on AWS Kubernetes.
• • Build and maintain a scalable automated test suite using industry-standard frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright; integrate these suites into our CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Docker, Kubernetes) so that every commit is validated before reaching production.
• • Validate RESTful APIs and third-party integrations with Postman, RestAssured, or similar tools, ensuring data accuracy and reliability for features like mortgage-payment rewards, utility bill categorization, and AI-driven home-maintenance reminders.
• • Establish defect-tracking workflows in Jira or Linear, triaging bugs with clear reproduction steps, severity ratings, and root-cause analysis; partner with engineers and product managers to drive issues to resolution within sprint cycles.
• • Champion a culture of quality by mentoring teammates on best practices—writing testable requirements, adopting shift-left testing, and leveraging feature flags for safe rollouts—while continuously refining our QA processes as the team scales.
• • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, data, and customer-success teams to translate homeowner feedback into test scenarios, ensuring edge cases discovered in the field are covered in future test cycles.
• • Lead exploratory testing sessions before major launches, simulating real-world usage patterns across iOS, Android, and web browsers to uncover usability or performance issues that automated scripts might miss.
• • Define and monitor quality KPIs—test coverage %, defect escape rate, build failure rate, mean time to resolution—reporting weekly metrics to engineering leadership and iterating on strategy based on data-driven insights.
• • Contribute to on-call rotation for production incidents, quickly reproducing customer-reported issues, isolating root causes, and verifying fixes so that homeowners experience minimal disruption to their financial and home-management tools.
• • Evaluate new testing tools and frameworks, running proof-of-concepts to improve speed, reliability, or cost-efficiency; present findings to the team and drive adoption when ROI is demonstrated.
• • Partner with compliance and security teams to ensure QA processes meet PCI-DSS, SOC 2, and other fintech regulatory standards, validating encryption, access controls, and audit trails across all user flows.
• • Influence product roadmaps by providing risk assessments early in the design phase, highlighting areas that may require additional testing investment or architectural changes to maintain reliability at scale.
• • Document all test artifacts—plans, cases, scripts, and runbooks—in a centralized knowledge base, enabling any engineer to onboard quickly and contribute to QA efforts during high-velocity release cycles.
