📋 Description

• Senior Regulatory Compliance Manager for Japan at Airwallex, responsible for managing regulatory compliance for payment services and money remittance operations in Japan, ensuring adherence to local and regional financial regulations.
• Day-to-day responsibilities include managing licence authorisation processes, advising on regulatory changes, developing compliance policies, conducting compliance monitoring and training, interfacing with regulators, and supporting strategic business initiatives through proactive compliance projects.
• Part of the Global Regulatory Compliance Team within the Legal, Risk & Compliance (LRC) function, operating as a second line of defence (2LOD) with a reporting line to the Director, Regulatory Compliance, Asia based in Singapore; collaborates cross-functionally to enable compliant product innovation and business growth.
• Opportunity to deepen expertise in Japan’s financial regulatory landscape, lead compliance strategy for a high-growth fintech, influence regulatory engagement at scale, and develop leadership in risk management and ethical conduct within a global, innovative technology company.

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with minimum 6 years of compliance experience in a regulated financial institution, FinTech, legal/consulting firm, or equivalent combination
• Familiarity with financial regulatory laws, rules, and industry best practices in Japan and broader Asia region
• Data proficiency – ability to work with data for strategic decision-making
• Superior communication skills to explain complex regulatory topics to regulators, executives, and front-line staff
• Experience developing and/or maintaining a compliance program in a financial institution, preferably related to payments activity
• Understanding of financial products and associated conduct risk, ethics, and controls
