• • As a Senior Risk Analyst on the Payments Risk Analytics team at Coinbase, you will be at the forefront of safeguarding our critical payment infrastructure against fraud. This pivotal role, reporting to the Manager of Cards and Mobile Payments, is based remotely within the United States and offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of economic freedom by ensuring the integrity of our payment systems.
• • Your primary responsibility will be to identify, investigate, and implement robust mitigation strategies for fraudulent purchase and deposit activities. This involves developing and deploying sophisticated logic designed to detect and deter bad actors and high-risk behaviors across multiple global regions, ensuring the security of our payment rails.
• • You will play a crucial role in measuring and analyzing fraud performance across various payment methods, establishing and refining core metrics that drive our risk management strategies. This data-driven approach is essential for understanding the effectiveness of our controls and identifying areas for improvement.
• • A key aspect of this role is proactively identifying and closing gaps in our existing monitoring systems. This requires a keen analytical eye and a deep understanding of potential vulnerabilities to stay ahead of evolving fraud tactics.
• • You will own risk controls from end-to-end, ensuring they are not only effective but also scalable. As Coinbase continues to expand its business globally, you will be responsible for scaling these processes to provide appropriate coverage and maintain a high level of security.
• • This position also involves owning reporting processes and maintaining clear, consistent communication with our banking partners. Building and nurturing these relationships is vital for collaborative risk management and operational efficiency.
• • You will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders across Product, Growth, Data Science, and Engineering teams. Together, you will develop and drive forward custom risk management strategies and innovative techniques tailored to different geographies and payment ecosystems.
• • Leveraging data will be central to your work. You will assess risk, make informed decisions that impact large segments of our customer population, and quantitatively measure and evaluate the associated tradeoffs. This analytical rigor ensures that our risk mitigation efforts are both effective and balanced.
• • A significant part of your contribution will be synthesizing complex data learnings into compelling narratives. You will communicate these insights effectively to Payments Risk leadership, providing clear, actionable recommendations that inform strategic decisions.
