Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Own and evolve the Machine Learning Inference Infrastructure powering millions of AI requests daily across GPU-based systems at Photoroom.
- • Design and build cloud-agnostic infrastructure solutions to support current and future AI workloads with varying request durations from milliseconds to several seconds and payloads up to tens of megabytes.
- • Partner closely with ML, Product, Web, and Mobile teams to ensure reliability, performance, and scalability of AI services as the company scales globally.
- • Build and improve systems for load balancing, autoscaling, queuing, and workload orchestration to maintain consistent performance under rapidly growing demand.
- • Manage the full infrastructure lifecycle including architecture, implementation, monitoring, optimization, and incident response using tools like Datadog.
- • Monitor production systems, analyze usage patterns, and make infrastructure decisions based on real-world performance and direct user impact.
- • Ensure resilient, redundant infrastructure capable of handling failures gracefully while maintaining high availability and low latency for real-time backend systems.
- • Optimize infrastructure for cost-efficiency without compromising performance or reliability under high-scale, variable workloads.
- • Collaborate cross-functionally to identify bottlenecks, streamline deployment workflows, and enable faster iteration across engineering teams.
- • Participate in the team’s on-call rotation to maintain platform reliability and respond to critical incidents.
- • Work in a remote-friendly environment with monthly in-person office visits to Paris, fully reimbursed by the company.
- • Contribute to a collaborative engineering culture by sharing knowledge, learning from peers, and fostering a high-trust, high-impact environment.
- • Support workloads that vary significantly in duration and resource requirements, requiring nuanced infrastructure tuning and adaptive scaling strategies.
- • Operate in a high-growth startup environment with rapid iteration cycles and evolving technical requirements.
- • Maintain a pragmatic approach by leveraging existing tools and frameworks rather than reinventing solutions, prioritizing business impact and speed.
- • Fluently communicate in English to collaborate effectively with global engineering and product teams.
🎯 Requirements
- • Experience designing and operating large-scale distributed systems with high availability and reliability requirements.
- • Hands-on experience with load balancing, autoscaling, queuing systems, and traffic management at scale.
- • Proven track record working on low-latency, real-time backend systems with performance and throughput optimization.
- • Experience building resilient, redundant infrastructure capable of handling failures gracefully.
- • Experience deploying and operating containerised workloads at high scale while maintaining a strong developer experience.
- • Experience supporting workloads with highly variable durations, from milliseconds to several seconds.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Work flexibly from one of the core countries: France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Poland, UK, Ireland or Portugal.
- • 30 days annual leave plus local public holidays.
- • Competitive equity package with stock options/BSPCE.
- • €1,000 one-time home office grant OR €400 per month co-working space stipend.
