📋 Description

• Senior Software Developer responsible for owning and enhancing Solink’s core web and mobile applications that power real-time video security insights for thousands of global customers.
• Day-to-day work includes building and improving features across React/TypeScript web and React Native/Expo mobile apps, designing and implementing NestJS/TypeScript APIs, writing tests, monitoring production, refactoring code, mentoring teammates, and leveraging AI tools to increase development velocity and code quality.
• Part of the R&D Core Applications team, which stewards a mature, customer-facing product used by over 30,000 locations across 32+ countries, including major brands like McDonald’s and JYSK, within a company recognized as one of Ottawa’s Best Places to Work and a Deloitte Fast 500™ recipient.
• Opportunity to deepen expertise in full-stack TypeScript development, AI-augmented engineering practices, and scalable application architecture while contributing to a trusted platform that directly impacts customer security and operational efficiency.

🎯 Requirements

• Strong production TypeScript and React experience, ideally with long tenure on a mature product
• Hands-on React Native experience with understanding of web vs. native rendering differences
• Full-stack ownership: comfortable designing REST APIs (NestJS a bonus), working with PostgreSQL and Redis, and tracing issues across the stack
• Track record on a mature, customer-facing product — ability to improve trusted software without breaking it
• Pride in work: clean code, good tests, thoughtful naming, and UX that feels right
• Continuous improvement mindset: refactoring with purpose, reducing tech debt, leaving things better than found
• Patience and curiosity to understand decade-old production codebases before changing them
• Active use of AI tools (Copilot, Claude, or equivalent) to accelerate coding, debugging, and code review
• Solid understanding of REST APIs and frontend-backend interaction
• Awareness of performance trade-offs in web and mobile contexts
• Ability to trace bugs across UI → API → DB layers and communicate root causes clearly
• Strong opinions held loosely — brings perspective to technical discussions while remaining open to better ideas
• Product instinct: questions 'is this the right thing to build?' before implementation
• Clear communicator — effective in PRs, Jira, and Slack for both technical and non-technical audiences
• Comfortable with ambiguity and large surface area — self-directing, prioritizing, asking clarifying questions
• Moves with urgency when needed and care when it counts
