- • Design and implement innovative strategies for table schematization, materialization, and compaction at massive scale within the Tableflow project.
- • Build and maintain multi-tenant, highly available infrastructure that powers background computational tasks for Kora’s long-term storage, ensuring scalability, reliability, and resilience.
- • Advance key layers of the Tableflow project, including its compute infrastructure and core components responsible for table materialization and background maintenance.
- • Develop strategies to enable streaming data to be consumed seamlessly both as a table and as a stream across Confluent Cloud.
- • Ensure high availability and scalability for background storage tasks operating at massive scale across Confluent’s global infrastructure.
- • Collaborate with product management, design, and other engineering teams to integrate storage features and infrastructure seamlessly into the broader organization.
- • Contribute to the evolution of a next-generation multi-modal storage engine that unifies streaming and table-based data consumption.
- • Work on distributed storage systems and infrastructure problems with a focus on real-time data movement and transformation.
- • Engage in technical problem-solving for large-scale data systems, balancing performance, consistency, and operational efficiency.
- • Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical decision-making with a team of engineers focused on open-source data technologies.
- • Apply deep expertise in distributed systems to solve challenges related to storage, compute, and data consistency in a cloud-native environment.
- • Support the integration of Tableflow with existing Confluent Cloud services and ensure alignment with organizational objectives for data streaming platforms.
- • Maintain a strong focus on building systems that are fault-tolerant, observable, and operable at global scale.
- • Contribute to the technical direction of the Tableflow initiative by evaluating and adopting best practices from open-source ecosystems.
🎯 Requirements
- • BS, MS, or PhD in computer science or a related field, or equivalent work experience
- • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence and guide stakeholders at all levels
- • Familiarity with or experience contributing to Apache Kafka, Apache Iceberg, or Apache Flink
- • Experience or knowledge with public clouds (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
