đź“‹ Description

  • • As a Senior Software Engineer at Audiohook Inc., you will be at the forefront of innovation, architecting, building, and optimizing our high-performance advertising platform. This role is critical to driving significant profitability, efficiency, and scale for our core business by leveraging cutting-edge machine learning and big data technologies.
  • • You will be responsible for building and optimizing a robust performance-based advertising service designed to handle an immense volume of 10 billion requests per day. This requires a deep understanding of distributed systems, real-time processing, and scalable infrastructure.
  • • A key objective will be to enhance our bidding algorithms through the strategic application of machine learning models. Your work in this area is expected to increase profitability by a significant 20% within the first three months of your tenure, demonstrating a direct and measurable impact on the company's bottom line.
  • • You will architect and maintain sophisticated data pipelines capable of managing substantial big data workloads. This includes ensuring the integrity and consistency of data between our data lake and reporting caches, which is crucial for accurate analytics and decision-making.
  • • A tangible goal for this role is to reduce data processing costs by 10% within six months, showcasing your ability to optimize for both performance and economic efficiency.
  • • You will be expected to deliver on development tasks efficiently, completing an average of 10-12 story points per week. This pace reflects the dynamic and results-oriented nature of our team.
  • • Collaboration and communication are paramount. You will actively participate in daily stand-up meetings, presenting your progress and demonstrating completed work twice a week.
  • • You will engage in live team code reviews, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing. This includes participating in pair programming sessions and whiteboarding exercises to solve complex problems collaboratively.
  • • We encourage leadership and knowledge dissemination. You will have the opportunity to lead monthly 'Dev Tricks' and 'Lunch and Learn' presentations, sharing your expertise and insights with the wider team.
  • • This role demands a proactive and ownership-driven mindset. You will take ownership over product-level architecture, individual projects, and your personal tasks, ensuring successful delivery from conception to deployment.
  • • We value engineers who are comfortable with taking calculated risks and understand the critical trade-offs between short-term gains and long-term system stability and maintainability.
  • • Your ability to present and engage in daily discussions, offering well-reasoned perspectives, is highly valued.
  • • While this is a remote position, there is an expectation of willingness to travel to Utah up to one week per month for in-office collaborative work, fostering stronger team cohesion and facilitating intensive project sprints.
  • • You should possess a strong understanding of the strengths and potential pitfalls of AI Agents and be adept at frequently using them to collaborate on, review, and write code, enhancing productivity and code quality.
  • • You will contribute to the evolution of our tech stack, which primarily includes Python for backend development, PostgreSQL for our relational database, Iceberg for our data lake, Vue.js for the front-end framework, and various AWS services such as Lambda, Firehose, and Glue for cloud infrastructure. Experience with Docker and DevOps practices, including container orchestration, is also integral to our operations.
  • • This role offers a unique opportunity to make a substantial impact within a small, high-performing team where every member is a key contributor. If you are intrinsically motivated and driven to be part of something significant, Audiohook is the place for you.
