- • Own the architecture and delivery of backend services that power Smartly.io’s AI-driven campaign optimization engine, directly influencing how millions of ad creatives are generated, tested, and deployed for global brands.
- • Design and evolve resilient, high-throughput microservices in Python and TypeScript that sit at the heart of our ad-tech stack, handling petabyte-scale image, video, and text assets while guaranteeing sub-second latency for real-time bidding decisions.
- • Partner with data scientists to productionize state-of-the-art computer-vision and NLP models, building scalable training pipelines, feature stores, and online inference endpoints that run on Kubernetes and leverage GPU autoscaling.
- • Translate complex marketing objectives—such as ROAS targets, audience segmentation rules, and brand-safety constraints—into elegant technical solutions, collaborating daily with product managers, designers, and customer success teams.
- • Champion clean-code practices, comprehensive unit/integration testing, and rigorous monitoring (Prometheus/Grafana) to ensure 99.9 % uptime for services that process billions of events per day across Facebook, TikTok, Snapchat, and Pinterest APIs.
- • Lead technical planning and retrospectives, breaking epics into sprint-sized deliverables, estimating effort with story points, and continuously refining our agile ceremonies to keep the team laser-focused on customer impact.
- • Mentor mid-level and junior engineers through pair programming, architecture reviews, and lightning talks, raising the bar for software craftsmanship and fostering a culture of psychological safety and continuous learning.
- • Contribute to the open-source community by releasing internal tooling, writing technical blog posts, and speaking at meetups—amplifying Smartly.io’s reputation as a thought leader in AI-powered advertising.
- • Experiment fearlessly: run A/B tests on new ranking algorithms, explore multi-modal generative models for ad creative, and iterate quickly with feature flags and canary deployments to de-risk bold ideas.
- • Optimize cloud spend by profiling CPU, memory, and network usage, rightsizing Kubernetes pods, and negotiating reserved-instance pricing—turning infrastructure into a competitive advantage.
- • Build self-service data pipelines that allow marketers to upload product feeds, apply dynamic creative templates, and receive near-real-time performance dashboards—empowering non-technical users to leverage AI without friction.
- • Ensure compliance with GDPR, CCPA, and platform policies by embedding privacy-by-design principles into every service, from data encryption at rest to automated PII redaction in creatives.
- • Collaborate with the Infrastructure team to roll out blue-green deployments, chaos engineering drills, and regional failover strategies—making our platform bulletproof during Black Friday traffic spikes.
- • Drive cross-functional initiatives that reduce deployment lead time from hours to minutes, automate dependency updates with Renovate, and enforce security scanning in CI/CD to ship features faster and safer.
- • Influence the product roadmap by synthesizing customer feedback, competitive analysis, and emerging AI research into actionable engineering proposals that deliver measurable ROI.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years building production-grade backend services in Python or TypeScript, with deep expertise in REST/gRPC APIs, PostgreSQL, and Kubernetes.
- • Proven track record of deploying and scaling ML models in real-time inference environments (TensorFlow Serving, TorchServe, or custom microservices).
- • Strong grasp of distributed systems concepts—event sourcing, CQRS, eventual consistency—and hands-on experience with message queues like Kafka or RabbitMQ.
- • Nice-to-have: hands-on experience with computer-vision or NLP libraries (OpenCV, Hugging Face Transformers) and familiarity with ad-tech standards (OpenRTB, Meta Marketing API).
