📋 Description

• Senior Software Engineer, Backend role at Dave Inc., a financial app dedicated to leveling the financial playing field by providing affordable, transparent, and user-centric access to liquidity for millions of underserved Americans.
• Day-to-day responsibilities include architecting and implementing scalable, secure backend systems; designing large-scale distributed platforms; writing clean, maintainable code; conducting code reviews to coach teammates; providing technical leadership; collaborating with product, design, and engineering teams; debugging production issues; preventing customer-impacting outages; leveraging cloud platforms; optimizing SQL and NoSQL data storage; continuously improving codebase maintainability and scalability; monitoring system performance; implementing observability tools; staying current with industry trends; and sharing knowledge to improve development processes.
• The team is a critical part of Dave’s infrastructure, managing Dave Bank accounts, debit card systems, transaction processing, reconciliation, ledgering, and integrations with payment processors, banking providers, sponsor banks, and product verticals, while owning backend systems for debit card onboarding, validation, and management.
• In this role, you will gain deep expertise in financial systems engineering, scalable backend architecture, payment processing compliance (PCI, 3DS), cloud-native distributed systems, and cross-functional collaboration in a mission-driven fintech environment, with opportunities to influence technical direction and grow as a technical leader while directly impacting millions of users’ financial well-being.

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (or above) in Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent experience
• 4+ years of Software Engineering Experience with a focus on Backend feature development
• Solid understanding of software engineering principles, design patterns, and algorithms
• Experience with RESTful API design and development
• Proven track record of collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams and excellent communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, agile development environment
