- • Senior Software Engineer (Backend Developer) role focused on designing, developing, testing, and maintaining scalable SaaS solutions for the life sciences industry, enabling biotech and pharma teams to manage and analyze biomarker and sample data efficiently.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include translating business requirements into technical documentation, building and optimizing backend features using Java, Python, or JavaScript, writing clean and well-documented code, conducting code reviews, debugging complex issues, and ensuring adherence to software development best practices.
- • The role involves active participation in deployment, maintenance, and documentation efforts to ensure software stability and alignment with evolving business needs, including work with SQL, relational databases, Docker, GitLab CI, and Linux environments.
- • As a senior engineer, the individual will mentor junior team members, lead moderately complex projects, contribute to strategic planning, support hiring and onboarding, and continuously improve technical skills while staying current with emerging technologies.
- • The position is part of QuartzBio, a Precision Medicine Group subsidiary, which provides enterprise-level data management and analytics platforms connecting biospecimen, assay, and clinical data in a secure, scalable cloud infrastructure to accelerate research and decision-making in drug development.
- • The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional and technical stakeholders to ensure shared understanding of goals, preemptively identify backlog issues, and support seamless integration across workflows.
- • The role emphasizes leadership in technical excellence, process improvement, and fostering a collaborative, high-velocity engineering culture.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in software development, IT, or technology solutions.
- • Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Java, Python, or JavaScript, along with strong expertise in R and Python backend development, including R package creation and adherence to community best practices.
- • Proficient in SQL, relational databases, and relational data modeling, with hands-on experience in data preprocessing, cleaning, and transformation using tools like Pandas, NumPy, and SQL.
- • Strong foundation in Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA) with a focus on implementing efficient solutions, and proven experience with Git, version control workflows, and Linux command-line tools.
- • Familiarity with tools such as GNU Make, Docker, and GitLab CI, and background in clinical trial data management is considered a plus.
