- • Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Java/Spring) role focused on owning feature delivery across Compliance, Recruiting, and Camps teams, breaking complex work into small, shippable increments from design to production
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include designing and building internal APIs and data access layers for performant, reliable cross-product data consumption, diagnosing and resolving critical performance issues in the data import pipeline, providing mentorship and technical direction to junior engineers, driving code quality through MR reviews and testing practices, and participating in on-call rotation and incident response
- • The Compliance, Recruiting, and Camps team at Teamworks Technologies powers complex, compliance-sensitive workflows in collegiate athletics, currently transitioning from a monolithic codebase to a stable, service-oriented architecture with a reliable data layer for the entire platform
- • The role offers opportunity to own meaningful technical challenges with direct impact on thousands of athletic programs, develop expertise in service-oriented architecture decomposition, data access layer evolution, and AI-assisted development practices while growing as a technical leader in a culture that values incremental shipping, learning from incidents, and genuine investment in growth
🎯 Requirements
- • 6+ years of senior-level Java and Spring/Spring Boot experience
- • Proven experience building internal APIs on top of relational databases with strong query optimization and schema design skills
- • Experience working across monolithic and service-oriented architectures with a track record of decomposing monolithic applications into service-oriented structures
- • Experience building or evolving a data access layer serving multiple internal consumers across a platform
- • Proficiency with agentic coding tools and AI-assisted development methods
- • Experience mentoring junior engineers and developing their problem-solving instincts
