📋 Description

• Design and operate the foundational infrastructure that manages customer identity, placement, and lifecycle across Sentry’s multi-cell distributed architecture.
• Build and enhance control plane systems responsible for cross-cell routing, replication infrastructure, and lifecycle orchestration of customer environments.
• Improve the reliability, scalability, and observability of mission-critical control plane services that underpin Sentry’s global SaaS platform.
• Partner with engineering teams to define and provide safe, reusable infrastructure primitives and standards for cell-compatible systems.
• Develop abstractions that enable multiple teams to interact with distributed systems without exposing underlying complexity.
• Operate production infrastructure through incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Focus on distributed coordination, consistency models, and state synchronization across geographically dispersed data centers.
• Architect systems where correctness and reliability are non-negotiable, ensuring platform safety at global scale.
• Design and implement platform APIs used by multiple internal engineering teams to manage tenant routing and data replication.
• Contribute to the evolution of Sentry’s architecture as it scales to support hundreds of thousands of organizations worldwide.
• Maintain and improve containerized systems using Docker and Kubernetes in cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Document platform systems clearly and thoroughly to ensure knowledge sharing and operational continuity across engineering teams.
• Prioritize architectural problem-solving over product feature development, focusing on foundational infrastructure rather than end-user interfaces.
• Work in a high-ownership environment where your systems directly impact the stability and performance of Sentry’s entire platform.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer or similar role.
• Strong proficiency with Python; experience with Rust is a plus.
• Experience designing and operating distributed systems at scale.
• Strong understanding of replication, consistency models, and service coordination.
• Experience building infrastructure services or platform APIs used by multiple teams.
• Experience working with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Experience operating containerized systems (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Track record of operating production systems with strong ownership.
• Strong written communication skills and ability to document platform systems clearly.

• Base salary range of CAD $200,000 to $295,000.
